Did you quote the wrong person? I haven't said anything about either of those individuals in the current course of conversation. I think you may be confused. :huh

i just threw in **** to make a point that HBO are poor!and also many Americans do believe unless its American its either obscure or **** as its not American as 'America is the greatest country' type of thing. Not saying your like that, but just making a point that some on here definitely do!

Also i`m not British, not ever lived there or ever will!I just watch Setanta and know its good for boxing!

and that **** about colonies is about is just plain silly, you do realise America was ruled by the British right?? thats why you speak English!!!

My point stands, most Americans i read on here believe 'if its not American its inferior', which is quite clearly wrong to any intelligent person!

I'm not arguing whether "being non-American makes things inferior". Obviously anyone who thinks that is stupid. I'm just trying to keep things kind of level here. You don't have to be a jingoistic yankee doodle dandy with star spangled blinders on to say that British sports broadcast coverage (or media in general) hardly rivals or surpasses the influence of its American parallels. It's simply an observation. Britain might have equal or greater influence in continental Europe and places like Australia, India, Grenada etc. that are or recently (within the last century or two) have been financially dependent and by extension culturally impressionable to the UK. In North & South America, Asia, and Eastern Europe - U.S. culture and media is the more prominent. That's all I'm saying here.

If you live in England, or a country that gets Setanta - ok, its tv personalities may not be obscure. If you don't - they are...to you. It's all about perspective. Fact is, if you're a hardcore boxing fan, whether you're from the US, Guatemala, Canada, Ukraine, whatever - you probably know who Larry Merchant is. You might be less likely to know who "Steve Bunce" is. I'm a pretty involved fan myself and I know the name Steve Bunce from hearing Brits on ESB throw it around but ****ed if I know the first thing about him. Why would I ever watch Setanta? The same fights are available without a crappy internet stream on my actual television. So I have to deal with some occasionally obnoxious and biased commentary from HBO? I'm used to it, and used to tuning it out. There's no reason for Bunce to be in my frame of reference, and I imagine that's true for a lot of people. :good

i`m not arguing against you, just the general 'obscure' comment made by whoever the idiot was just because Bunce aint American!anyway, you are not one of those idiots

and of course America has more influence purely because of its size and wealth, no argument here! Its just the argument made that because of its size and power its automatically the best that i hate! The English are exactly the same though, most countries are i suppose but its just because of Americas size we hear it more from them (or ye) :D

Sorry you're frightful of the truth, but that's what it is. Bunce is an obscure analyst compared with Kellerman and Setanta is an obscure television station in terms of boxing compared with HBO.

Bottom line is that Bunce is probably just pissed off because he lacks the charisma and boxing knowledge of Kellerman. That's why Kellerman makes six figures while Bunce has a janitor's income in comparison. And that's also why Bunce will never be where Kellerman is right now. The day HBO or Showtime hires Bunce is the day the network goes down the drain.
