Is Max Kellerman The Biggest Joke In Boxing?

Bunce is a great commentator, always interesting to listen to, has passion and honest opinions, he calls it pretty fair too. Seems like the kind of guy who paid his dues and earned his spot. Wish we had him in the US.

With all due respect their boxing background should not come into play. Australia's main expert commentator Barry Michael is a former world champion but that doesn't change the fact he's a **** caller bias to Aussie fighters. Bunce is ridiculously bias to English fighters and spends half his call trying to hype them up, Jim Watt from Skysports is far better.

And if you didn't find that documentary interview informative then I feel sorry for you......I really do.

 

From a purely journalistic point of view Bunce is way superior, his articles for the Guardian, Independent and Daily Telegraph that I've seen over the years are far more in depth and well-written than anything Kellerman has done. Max Kellerman is basically a jumped up sports talk-radio host, opinionated rather than informed, who's writing style is very clearly influenced by blogging rather than honed through years of quality printed journalism.

Kellerman, and the state of the HBO team, is pretty poor at the moment. His analysis is shite compared to Merchant, and his delivery is **** too. I didn't see the Chris John interview, but in general I'd much rather have Steve Bunce here in the UK than the likes of Kellerman.

 

I listen too Max on espn radio as well as HBO .The man just has a greast job but Bunce is right he is an idiot ! **** what the man makes there are allot of high paid morons that still doesn't make them any more intelligent because of their salary !!


Max was also an MTV VJ at one point so there u go thats the extent of his boxing experienc e..I can't argue the man's knowledge but he is an idiot same as Larry Merchant !!

What a JOKE. Kellerman "worked his way up from the TOP" alright. He came from a wealthy family with connections to Bill Cayton and other boxing people. Alone among ANY boxing commentator you could name he had NEVER worked as a boxing journalist or a participant before he was put on ESPN.

And no, some stupid rinky-dink cable access show doesn't equal the YEARS of journalistic experience guys like Merchant, Farhood or Al Bernstein had BEFORE they were put in front of mike. There is a REASON Kellerman sucks so bad. It's because he is utterly unqualified.

 

Sitting on a park bench with a retired alco boxer is a bit different from a post-fight interview with an active one. What did you wan't him to ask Kirkland? What was the key weapon you employed in the Duran fight? The guys memory of that fight would probably be hazy at best; he's a down-and-out drunk for ****s sake. "Boxing skills" and "keys to victory ****" were not what the interview was about. It was to do with a fighter who could quite possibly have reached for greatness in the sport, but was seduced by the dark side of the business and has now ended up on the scrapheap (judging by what he said he said though, he might have ended up there anyway; yet boxing could have turned his life around. but it didn't - it just gave him more temporary cash to waste on feeding his addictions).

It was an excellent interview in my opinion, and pisses all over Max Kellerman's street corner rentboy stories any day of the week.
