Strange how Mayorga claimed he's looking for big fights at 147 after his fight with Vargas when it's pretty obvious he has issues making weight at 154 and his last fight is at 164.[/quote] Strange???? We're talking about Mayorga remember!!!
I did not think he was in his best shape fighting at 164. Not to say he was unfit, but he definitely looks more muscular and leaner fighting at 160 or 154. He is a smoker and party animal, that might have something to do with him having trouble taking off weight. It doesnt seem that 154 should be much of a problem for him if he is training properly
He also has eyes for pre-teen girls, but thats another story for another day. If he comes in looking like the day he fought Vargas....he is done in the first 3 rounds. They both looked fat and slow...with each trading punches.... It literally looked like they were reaching down and picking up a horse-shoe for good luck.
Nobody asked him anuthing about the weight at the presser but he didn't fight Vargas at 164 cuz he couldn't make weight,he fought Vargas at 164 cuz Vargas couldn't make lesser.
Thanks for clearing it up, I knew nothing of what happened with that fight. If Mayorga wasn't asked then I'm pretty sure he said he can make the 154 weight limit, usually the press throw in questions like that when there are issues with weight or even comments about having issues. Think he'll make weight no problem, he already said after the Vargas fight that he wants some big fights at 147, meaning he's hinting that he can make that weight as well, not sure if it's a load of usual bull****.
His body weight is too big for him not to have weight issues even if he trains good, that's why he brought Garibaldi back.Plus he was saying 2 weeks before the Vrgas fight he was 156,when in fact he came in at 164
WTF...? Just look at Mayorga's face on the picture... skinny as HELL This content is protected 'Regular Mayorga' from the HBO site: This content is protected
The first pic ain't new,it's from the de la Hoya vs Mayorga press conference or weigh-in in 2006,it was taken just for fun, even if you watch the fight you can see he was a lot slimmer than he is now and he was 172 on figth night, the second is a normal one.If you look at Mayorga alog the years you notice that he has bulked up and gotten bigger a LOT,even put on some fat, particulary when he showed up overweight at the Rivera fight. The Mayorga pre april 04 is a different person then the post one
When they first talked about it in march 07(about) they said they will do it at 154,but Vargas said he can't make 154 anymore,he killed himself in the last few fights and it showed. They agreed on 162 but 2 weeks to the fight Vargas pulled out with anemia and said can't make 162 so tthey postponed it to november and pushed the weigth to 166.When it was postponed Mayorga said he had proof that Vargas was 189 2 weeks before the figth and that he is disrespecting the fans, the sport bla bla.So they weigh-in at 164.How did you miss it,they said they would kill themselves for about half the year?
Just read on pinolerosports.com that Mayorga said he is 160 lbs, this news is from 2 weeks ago.If this is true he should not have problems making weight but I don't know if it's true or not, never believe Mayorga.160 with more than a month to go?Weird
