Boxing is 80 plus percent mental, so a fighters prime is alot more to do with the mind, than the body.
No here is ther real diffrence neither Joe or Floyd have ever been in ring wars the luxary of cherry picking and padding that 0 .. The diffrence is Floyd took 2 hrs off to preserve his body ..Meanwhile Joe step s up in class and gets dropped by two past their prime fighters now all of a sudden Joe is shot That's the real diffrence !
This. Mayweather is in the twilight of his career but he's still more then capable of making easy work of his opponents, as we have seen.
I figured Floyd would age better than most fighters due to his technical skill set and great training habits. He also has plenty of speed to spare, so a "slowed down" Mayweather is still very fast. I'd say the end of his prime was the Hatton fight. I think he did get a little bigger and presumably stronger physically after he came back in 2009. Sort of like how the Holyfield who fought Tyson in 96' wasn't as quick and overall wasn't as good as he had been, but he did add some weight and strength which helped him.
In the minds of Pac****s Floyd = Muhammad Ali in his prime in every fight even though he is dawning 40 years of age While all of his opponents are Sugar Ray Robinson in the Joey Archer fight.
ofc Floyd is prime as prime as Wladimir was 3, 4 years ago carefully selected opposition (aka cherrypicking), safety first style, great defense, prolonged vacations, avoiding ring wars, taking little damage during your career, high quality PEDs, etc. they're all factors that can extend a fighters prime beyond what's usually expected age wise Floyd has all of those things and then some a shot, injured, blood drained Pacquiao fought a prime, PED fueled Floyd that night of may 2nd
During that time he failed to capitalize with his opponent selection. He did face Corrales and Castillo during that time. His most dangerous opponents. But given his ability that's a letdown. For example Pac didn't waste his prime on B+ fighters. He took on barrera marquez morales and cotto. Floyd should have fought greats at his best.
Give me an opponent who you think was not green or washed up when floyd faced them but fans say they were.
EASY Margarito after he was KTFO by Mosley Mosley after being shcooled by Floyd Hatton after getting KTFOd by Floyd DLH who was past his primer even before Floyd Cotto coming off a beatdown by bricks Rios coming off a loss to Alvarado Morales after losing to Raheem ...
Damn Alex do you kneel & praise that punk every day at the altar you built him??? youre just like one of Mansons followers were with him
His experience is unmatched now, but this isn't FLoyd at his best. He's been out of prime for a few years IMO. But he's declining slowwwwwly because he has a vast skill-set and keeps himself in great shape. He's still excellent, but I wanted him to produce more work against Pacquaio. He was in tremendous shape though - tremendous shape.
floyd is kind of like a really ugly girl with the greatest personality in the world... His style (personality) doesn't age but he's getting uglier and uglier
