Is Mayweather an old, disinterested, part-time fighter?

Mayweather is given no credit for the Oscar victory because he was 34 and more interested in promoting/making money than fighting the best. Oscar just had a two year layoff before beating Mayorga and then another year off before the Mayweather fight.

Mayweather will be 34 by spring is more interested in making money than fighting the best. Floyd just had a two year layoff before beating Marquez and Mosley, taking another year off after each one.

So would it be fair to discredit a Pacquiao victory over him?

Absolutely fair. Pacquiao deserves no credit for beating Floyd.

I wouldn't blame the guy for being bored or disinterested after all these years. However he can't scream he's the number 1 if that is the case.

Easy fights kill you. It killed Roy Jones. You need tough fihgts against sharp and dangerous opponents to bring out your best. Floyd ducked the best and feasted on handpicked. You don't improve that way. You actually decline because deep down you know you ducked the best because you lack confidence. Floyd has been declining for about 3-5 years, since the Oscar set up. Yes he is what the TS says.

Well said. I guarantee you if this fight happens next year and Pac wins, the excuses will be: "He was on a year layoff... " "He was over the hill" etc.

Other people will say he was exposed, like after the Jones - Tarver fight.

To clarify, I don't personally think that Floyd is those things. It's just that Floyd's win over Oscar is largely discredited because of those exact same circumstances that is undergoing himself.

I think Pac should get a huge amount of credit if he beats Floyd, but it's strange that those same fans don't think Floyd should get any credit for beating Oscar.

I'm just curious to see if anybody has a logical argument as to how we can discredit Floyd's win over Oscar and yet not discredit a hypothetical Pac win over Floyd.

Same reason they want Floyd to be the lowest of the low for beating women but have Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson, etc as their favorites.

Same reason why they can't take the JUDGES WORD on Floyd-Castillo I but can accept that Mayweather beat Oscar by a "Split Decision".
