Floyd is known for his boxing skill, not his power but it seems his power is seriously underrated. He rarely commits to getting the KO and has had hand problems, when his hands are good as they were against Corrales/Hatton his power has been. In terms of sheer force he isn't the best of best, although still good BUT when it comes to landing flush (which does the most damage) he is 1 of the best in the sport. Many say Margarito would just walk through Floyd's shots, they said the same about Hatton. If you've boxed you'll know walking through your opponents shots is never a good strategy, Corrales and Hatton tried it didn't get their shots off and got ko'd/tko'd for their troubles. Lets look of some examples of his more impressive feats of power

Hatton - Hatton walked through Tyszu and Castillos shots yet Floyd ko'd him

Corrales - no one has beat him down quite the same as Floyd did who put him down 5 times. This is a man who's been in with Castillo, Cassamayor, Freitas, Clottey amongst others.

Delahoya - shook him to his boots

He punches harder then most imagine but because he's so defensive we don't get to see much destruction.

mayweather isnt a devastating puncher but his speed is what brought him most of his ko's.

Floyd has tremendous power and he can knock out many people,Corrales is the best example.

Everyone underestimates Floyd because Floyd is so small.Ricky Hatton said a lot of times before fighting Floyd 'Floyd is not the biggest WW and there is no way he can knock me out'.His strategy would be pressure, pressure, pressure. He assumed he could walk through Floyd's shorts. That assumption was quickly changed in the first round.Later on Ricky Hatton didnt know where he was. That left hook can knock out anyone.

Floyd can knock out Margaritto,no disrespect to Cotto.

yes he is...acutally the reason we don't see much of floyd's power was because he is a defensive type of fighter, cautious and not the warrior type that even though he has the ability to hurt and knock people out, he sticks to his gameplan and plays it safe.

    :good

Perhaps Mayweather does not throw very hard, but he can counter very good and he has the ability to throw his punches very fast and very exactly, this brought his k.o.´s

id say he was underated in terms of power. but at welter he doesnt have that devasting ko power that guys like cotto have, however what floyd has it amazing accuracy and speed and throw in fantastic technique.

Technique and accuracy is probably what brought him most of his KO's. Hatton couldnt walk through the punches but theres a good chance Margarito could.

Hatton walked through quite a lot, but because Floyd was so accurate the damage was cumulative.

I wouldn't have said Ricky looked in any danger until the ringpost incident, the worst punches were in the 8th round - I would guess that most fighters would have gone after the big right hand but Hatton's heart as much as anything else kept him in there.

Exactly what I was going to say, it's his accuracy that brings his power. He doesn't land glancing blows, his shots are always timed to precisely and bang flush.

    Yes ...

And I do agree that Floyd can stop Margarito ... Margarito isn't indestructable and is able to be chopped down if it maybe, but i'm sure that if they fought Mayweather breaks him down and stops him by corner/ref/stoppage or cuts --

The way his punches land, he's bound to cut you --

Floyd Mayweather is the most complete fighter out there. He is the complete package. And he trains like nobody else. And thats the main thing. The guy lives in the gym. He is always in top shape.
The only thing Floyd donesn't have is the balls to make the important fights.

I'd say as a Jr. LW & LW he had great Punching power.

Vs. a Jr. Welterweight he had better than average pop.

As a WW would prob be somewhere in the average range.
(But defo not a world beater)
