i dont think so. his attracts attention with his trash talk / hype but his fights never produce. He hasnt given the fans the fights they wanted to see either.

He's a good hype-man, but he doesnt give fans or the sport what it needs. Ultimately that turns people away.

Well.. Overall yes.. He has been fighting many elite fighters, and he really has some masterclass performances.. There has been some "issues" with him, the infamous Pac-Mayweather fight which probably isn't going to happen and only fighting once a year sometimes..
Floyd is probably a top 25 ATG, great resume, tremendous athlete and almost perfect technically

Of course he is. But strictly inside the ring ONLY.

These idiots who kept on saying that his image outside of the boxing world is OK too probably don't have or will never have kids who any normal human being won't want to emulate FMJ's life outside of the ring.

    Yeah

Might not like the guy but I like watching him fight. Who says a 30something has to be a full time fighter anyway. Another two of he sports megastars fought part time ODLH and SRL towards the end of their careers

Floyd is one of the reasons that the MMA continues to rise in popularity. Fans don't like smack-talking fighters who duck fights. In the MMA, nobody ducks fights.

His fights never produce what you're hoping for because he's too ****ing good. As for the idea that his fights turn people away, all the evidence suggests quite the opposite. :deal

Bull****. Floyd draws attention to the sport and puts asses in seats with his outside the ring "image", and that's good for boxing whether you like it or not.

    Short-term: Yes

    Long-term: No

He's helped the sport, but he's also done quite a bit of long-term harm to it. This whole debacle with him avoiding the fight has left an ugly taste in people's mouths. I don't think other kind of sports fans are as frustrated as boxing fans, and a lot of this frustration has a lot of do with Mayweather.

So people are okay with it now and are turning up in near record numbers to buy his and Manny's PPVs, but they'll be more upset "long term" that these two haven't fought? :nut

Let me guess, teenager, no decent upbringing, don't plan to have a family anyway (which is good for the likes of you) or already accepted that they are going to live in the ghetto like their pops.

    Thought so.

You missed the "normal" part on my last post btw:

I didn't actually. You said that he was only good for boxing inside the ring. I corrected you and pointed out the fact that his outside the ring "image" draws attention to the sport and brings in paying fans, which is good for boxing.

All this BS about people not having kids and "normal" people not wanting to emulate his life has nothing at all to do with the question.

A boxers personal life doesn`t mean **** to me, I look at what they do in the ring, I also enjoy the pre/post fight stuff to do with the fights.

I think fmj would have been very good for the sport but him & pac not fighting is so wrong I can`t even put into words my feeling of disgust towards both guys.... in this sense, fmj is terrible for the sport.... he is supposed to be the p4p king, a boxer that the up & coming boxers look up to the way Ali did to Robinson, the way Leonard did to Ali etc etc... now we might get future p4p stars of boxing getting out of there toughest fights & shouting utter bull**** like `I`m a smart business man` & `I don`t need to fight my main rival, I`m already making $$£££$£$£ without him`

He`s a piece of **** & an embarrassment to the sport.... & thats me not even thinking about his ****ed up antics outside of the ring.
