Not really. Mayweather is too big, too young, too talented for Marquez, whim I like as a fighter and respect, and I despise Mayweather, by the way, and would love to see Marquez win, but he won't.

Marquez is a technical fighter himself. Hes not a typical Mexican fighter. He throws good straight punches and has a lot of heart. I still like Mayweather, but I dont see it being a cake walk if Marquez can get passed the first half of the fight.

Marquez may make a competitive fight of it, but as far as I'm concerned it's a foregone conclusion that Mayweather will win this fight.

Mayweather may very well be too big for Marquez. Mayweather may also be able to run and pot shot his way to victory. Neither of these opinions are far fetched.

What is true, is that Mayweather is in for a tough night if the aforementioned statements are not the reality. Marquez' jab, punch output, and ring intelligence are enough to conquer Mayweather otherwise.

I am really looking forward to this fight.

    Mayweather is a joke!

A fantastic fighter. But he's picked a guy who is too small and too old. It's a safety first fight. It's the kind of fight someone would take to pump up their standing so as to get to Mayweather.

I have nothing but respect for Floyd's ability but he's not going to take a real challenge.

I hope Marquez wins but I can't see it.

He hasnt fought in two years. If in fact he is in financial trouble, taking a good solid name opponent that gave the current P4P #1 guy hell in two fights is not a stupid move. If you dont think this is for an eventual showdown with PacMan to make mega millions your nuts. If Floyd dominates it sends a message to Pacman and all the fans who rate him over Floyd.
Its not a fight I would buy on PPV, but it will most certainly lead to a fight with Pacman, a fight I would buy on PPV.

I don't even think Pac can beat him. I think Floyd will gobble up all these naturally smaller men.

The fact that he hasn't fought in 2 years bothers me. All he has to do is pick a weight class, fight 3 fights a year and take on all-comers. I don't think Floyd is good for boxing. But I do think he's a great fighter.

Marquez only has his iron determination, excellent conditioning and mental prowess within the ring to make this close. He gives up height, speed of foot, speed of hand, reflexes, weight, reach -- and that's just the physical part. His opponent is a terrific ring general and able technician -- one that will surely not come to him.

Look for Floyd to stick and move, potshot, stand and trade at times of his choosing at center-ring, and for Marquez to walk in and pressure before long because there just isn't anything to counter.

Manny Steward had some interesting things to say about the match-up. He thinks Mayweather's advantage in size won't matter much since Mayweather never presses such an advantage but rather tries to outbox his opponents. He also believes that Marquez will perform above all expectations because he has a real chance of becoming a Mexican icon in case he wins, one that would be ranked above his peers Morales and Barrera and up there with the likes of Julio Cesar Chavez and Salvador Sanchez.

If he's right, the result could be a competitive bout. That's what I'm looking forward to but the chances are that it will be a typical Mayweather showing with few thrills and little excitement.

I think Marquez' ring intelligence, adaptability, and precision punching and combinations give him a chance against anyone. However, he is a bind against Mayweather, because they both have similar approaches (specializing as counterpunchers) but Mayweather has faster hands and feet, better defense, and a good chin.

Mayweather should win, but just about everytime there's a boxing card there's an upset. And Mayweather is coming off a two year layoff, with the possibility that he's lost something (even though it's only 24/7 sparring,/working out I do think he seems a tad slower from what I saw of the first episode) or is looking past Marquez.

I think anything is possible, from a Mayweather blowout to a shocker for Marquez. My instinct though, is to say that Mayweather wins, probably by a score around 8-4.

I wouldn't pay to see this fight...it's a foregone conclusion that whatshisname will outclass the valiant Mexican.

If he is he will win. It is the Mayweather Trap and everyone falls for it. To beat Mayweather you have to out box him (example De La Hoya in the early rounds of their bout). This is also easier said than done.
