The guy is 32. I think he's still amazing and the best fighter but surely he cant be as athletic as he once was. He must be slowing down some.

Fortunately he's so damn good that what he loses in athletic ability is just masked by the skills he has

    Don't care.

If you want him to be Prime then he is Prime.

If you want him to be removed from it then he is removed from it.

This is how it goes in boxing.

What matters is what guys do in the ring, and not many do it better than Floyd.

    Of course he still is.

Is this an early sign of an excuse should he lose his next fight with hopefully the past it Shane?

    Obviously not.

    a. He is 32. Most fighters are past their prime at that age and Mayweather is probably no an exception.

    b. He has been inactive for 2 years. Add it to his age and it is more probable that he's past his prime.

    c. He's not in his best weight class. Mayweather's best weight was 135-140.

Add those 3 factors and you have a big probability that Mayweather is past his absolute best.

135 lbs was his best because of his quality of opponents. How can we find out how he would be at welter if he does not fight the elite in the division. The division is full with talents right now and we'll never know unless he starts fighting them. For all I know, he could certainly beat all of them.

His quality of opponents at 130 and 147 have been better IMO.

    Genaro Hernandez
    Diego Corrales
    Jesus Chavez

    Zab Judah
    Ricky Hatton
    Juan Manuel Marquez
(Plus he was a WW on fight night vs. De La Hoya)

    vs. JLC twice

Hell no. Just watch some video from 130. It's clear, abundantly clear.

kind of a weird question for someone like Mayweather, i suppose it doesn't matter as long as he's still undefeated.

whats up with the third option?

This is how the prime argument works. When a boxer looks good in a fight he is n his prime. Some here on ESB said BHOP was in his his prime after the Pavlik fight.

So logically when a fighter looks bad in a fight for what ever reason either the opponent had the wrong style for him or he fought at an unnatural weight then all the fans of the fighter will say he is shot.
