In terms of boxing skills, who would you give the edge to, Mayweather or Leonard?

No. In terms of boxing skills I think they are the same level. It was what they did with it that gives them the edge. So it's more about what is more effective to establish dominance.

The difference is mayweather uses his skills more economically, he's looking at the long game where as Leonard was spontaneous. He was reacting instinctively to a situation where as Mayweather was more calculating. Floyd always had one idea on the risk factor. Leonard had one eye on the KO.

They are reasonably close in boxing skill. I would give a slight edge to Leonard who was able to win the Olympic Gold Medal in a much tougher era. Floyd only came away with a bronze medal in a very weak olympic field.

Boxing skill aside, Leonard is twice the FIGHTER that Mayweather is and would destroy him head to head at welterweight.

Mr Mayweather has 10x the skills of SRL

close... PBF has better defensive skills.. But, some of that is due to the ALWAYS safety first style which he employs. And which is also why H2H,SRL always beats him. SRL,WAY more power, better at punching in combination, again with power. I would say better chin as he fought the best, consistently ih his prime. Jab, I actually say SRL. PBF uses his sometimes sparingly. Where as SRL`s was sharp fast and heavy. The only thing I see PBF superior in is defensive skills. Even footwork I give to SRL. When he made up his mind to use his legs ,lateral movement,he was very hard to get too... I`m talking about prime SRL not comebacking SRL... Two completely different fighters...Again PBF `s superior defense bests SRL also because of the fact he didn`t take risks to win. Where as SRL that style would not have been good enough against the likes of Duran, Hearns, ,Benitez etc...

I'd go with SRL, though not by much. Floyd has the edge defensively, and is the more economical fighter, but SRL was more mobile, had a vastly better workrate and offensive arsenal and more variety in his work.
To my mind a great (and they would need to be great) swarmer who could live with the frustration of missing and would not get discouraged by Floyd's right hand potshots would give him absolute hell. I think Duran, Armstrong and Basilio all take him at their best, while Ray maybe edges them all.

    In before rooster. ;)

Defensively I think Mayweather is clearly superior, but offensively Leonard is a level above, particularly as he has been known to show a genuine grit that Floyd hasn't.

But it's pretty close when you think about it. I'm a little surprised by that. Leonard never completely dominated a quality fighter like Floyd did to Corrales, but he has the bigger wins on his ledger.

If Mayweather ever fights and beats a still-good Paquiao, then the question will get even more interesting.

Leonard was better, and I'm not a srl fan, but he fought in a tougher era against better fighters, he also wasn't afraid to fight the best guys and had the balls to get guys outta there.
Floyd is as boring as watching grass grow, I haven't bought into any of his shitty fights since de la Hoya and I'm not gonna, 99% of his fights go to the cards, and he never fights outside of Vegas, "surprise"" the guy is also a fuc#Ing *******..

If skills include defense, offense, and speed, Mayweather has the edge.

If we are talking toughness, power, or durability Ray Leonard has the edge.

IMO Mayweather is harder to out point.

Leonard is all round more skilled than Mayweather. Mayweather isn't as dynamic. The reason Floyd Jr is so good is because the skills he does have he's extremely good at. He knows what he can and cant do and keeps it safe.
It's clear as day Leonard is the more skilled fighter. He won an Olympic gold in style then he turned pro and beat truly great fighters in an amazng career. He fought in one of the best era's in boxing.

Leonard is better in my opinion.
Leonard probably edges him in handspeed and in footspeed as well.
