Is Mayweather really that much "naturally" larger than Marquez?

The two biggest differences were the size and speed. Mayweather dominated with the jab and lead left hook the reason is beacuse of the huge reach advantage. Marquez is still a top 3 p4p fighter in my eyes. Floyd is a nightmare for smaller boxer/punchers. No shame in that performance.

 

he is bigger but not buy a whole lot.it was a light weight in with a jr welter.20 yrs ago they would have all been fighting in the same weight class.this is b4 all the weight classes came into play.so it was a throw back fight, the size difference was not as bad as oscar vs manny.

 

They were at different ages at those weight and Floyd still hadnt grown into his adult body yet

 

Where are all the people who said there was no size difference and that Floyd only gains 1 or 2 lbs after weigh-in? They were all out the day of the weigh-in.

Floyd looked like a tank next to JMM inside the ring.

 

Whatever they started at doesn't matter the size differnce looked huge in the ring.

Are you stupid or simply blind?! JMM never fought over 140lbs. Had two fights at 135lbs and the rest of his career prior to his fight was 130lbs and below..PBF has been fighting at 140lbs since 2004.

Even if they started almost the same but their bodies age, developes differently.

 

Honestly, I was surprised at how much bigger Floyd looked in the fight, it was a good size difference. It was exaggerated a bit by their styles of Floyd more up-right and Marquez more tucked in, but it was very clear that Marquez was the smaller man.

..in the end, it didn't ****ing matter. Floyd dominated him, and it wasn't by bullying around Marquez with his size, it was through defense and speed.

Mayweather was definately bigger, and certainly looked bigger.

The more pertinent question is whether the result (and score) would have been much different if a prime Mayweather at 130 (say, after Corrales) and a prime Marquez at 126 (say, after Pac draw) fought.

I don't think so.

 

Floyd may have started in the lower weights as well, but in the past 4 years or so he's proved that can handle fighting at the heavier weights better. The difference in size was very pronounced and was for all to see last night.
