    Is Mayweather the best boxer ever at picking off punches, and why don't other boxers learn the art?

    didn't sweet pea mostly avoid punches I'm talking about picking them off.

    Pernell was more of a punch slipper. Ray Robinson was pretty good at picking off punches, but in a different way.

    I don't know who the best ever is.....but he is damn good. His daddy did sure teach him the fundamentals well....

    Put the highest quality opponents on the other side of the punch. Then you will have your answer.

    Not sure because I've never seen footage of Burley. Jack Johnson was good at picking off punches. Obviously PBF is one of the best.

    Whitaker, Pep, SRR and a few others were masters of slipping. PBF is also very good at rolling with the shoulder, which is a form of slipping.

    I'm not a fan of Floyd as a human being but his defensive ability is sick. I can't think of a fighter since a prime Roy Jones that gets hit less than Floyd does with flush punches.
