Same. For those 36 minutes in the ring when you don't have to listen to his BS, it's easy to be a Floyd Mayweather fan. His reflexes and defense are INSANE. To me, he's among the most athletic boxers of all time - you can literally count on two hands the amount of times he's been truly hit flush in the last 7-8 years. Amazing.

no one has that kind of defensive "block or duck or roll with it or slip it whenever he feels like it" speed Floyd has.

Pernell was great when he was young because he just wasn't there to be hit, same with Pep, good ducking and getting out of the way with their legs(actually Pac is like a very poor man's version of them defensively: in and out, he's not good at actually blocking, just at getting out of range quickly).

James Toney occasionally did some of this pocket defense stuff, but for some reason he doesn't seem as complete defensively as Floyd.

Other defensive fighters (Spinks, Camacho, Maglignaggi, Whitaker, Alexander, etc.) seem to be on the threshold of running away at times, and only the super fast flurries of Camacho and Whitaker kept them in control of a lot of fights against agressive guys - Floyd rarely looks out of control even when he is playing pure defense, which is why he is such a special fighter.

(Jones' crazy unpredictable and very powerful offense with power and weird head movement made his opponents afraid to throw)

Jack Johnson will always be the king at picking off punches but Money's def one of the greatest at it

Either you have to have incredible reflexes, have the natrual instincts of a fighter or start from a very early age in perfecting the art of picking off shots the way Floyd does to have any shot at being effective.

Floyd has been blessed with a **** load of talent, he's gotten schooled by Sr from an early age and Floyd is simply a good boxer period. Most boxers DON'T b/c they CAN'T.

Why don't you just say what you want to say?

    Or, more accurately

Thank God someone at least noticed.

Floyd is the best at picking off punches. He's a master at it. But that **** right there is choreographed. Nothing to be amazed about.

he ducked more than he picked off punches in my opinion, though, and he moved at times too.

and sometimes sweet pea ducked "illegally" low.

I would say Pernell is the master of slipping and ducking and getting out of the way, not blocking.

Do you know why refs don't even care when fighters duck illegally low? They might as well as get rid of the rule.:think

It's illegal to duck under your opponents belt line, but that is hard to enforce when you are fighting someone like Thomas Hearns or Williams. if two guys are evenly matched in height it would be considered an attempt to remove the target area completely from your opponents possible attack line, like turning your back on purpose, but its impossible to enforce that kind of stuff unless its super blatant and you don't actually engage. Pernell was so quick at going down and up its difficult to penalize him.
