All broadcast rights (PPV, closed circuit, etc) in a HBO PPV fight, be it domestic or international, are owned by HBO.
Mayweather made $50 mill in 2007 and was number 3 or 4 on the list of highest paid athletes that year. If he fights Pacquiao this year, you can pretty much guarentee he'll be no.1 or no.2 for 2010. I'm not sure how much endorsement money Tiger will lose this year.
Firstly, take whatever Floyd says he makes and divide it by 2 and you'll get the real answer. That being said it is pretty common for the Top fighter in the world to be paid the most of any athlete. So I wouldn`t be shocked it he was in the top 2-3.
In 2008 , not shure how it is now, but Tiger Woods caddy was the highest earning Auzzy sport star on 6 million a year nut shure what currency it was in when i read it though.
top nba player makes about $25 mil per year top nfl player makes about $15 mil per year top mlb player makes about $25 mil per year if you just want to consider one year of earnings, then yes, mayweather will have made the most (besides t.woods who's majority of earnings is from endorsements)
What does Floyd lose out of pocket paying his camp? Do footballers, American Footballers, Baseball players, F1 drivers have similar deductions?
Depends on how the year is taken, Floyd and Pac will be in the top10 (top 5 if they fight each other).
can't remember pac's exact amount but pac was 6th on the forbes list of highest paid athletes last year.
How does the PPV structure work at HBO? In the UK SKY generated 800k ppvs at £15 a pop of which Haye got £5 of every £15, (£4 million, source - the scene).
Yes they do. No broadcast is allowed unless HBO says so. BBC can't put a camera in a NFL game and charge for it. How HBO is paid is of a different matter. It can be a flat fee or cut of each PPV sale. That is not how it works. Fighters at these kind of events are given a 'guaranteed' purse. No matter how many PPV buys they will get a minimum. PBF's min in the Mosley fight is supposedly around $22-$24 mil. He then gets a percentage AFTER a number of PPV buys happen. This is in order for HBO and others to recoup cost and earn some money to make the fight worthwhile for them. In the Mosley fight, the minimum buys was supposedly around 1.2 million PPV buys. So if the total buys is 1.4 million, PBF and Mosley (and who else is involved) shares the profit anything after 1.2 - meaning sharing the 200k PPV buys. I would assume his cut is around 25% (50 for HBO, 25 for Mosley/GBP and 25 for PBF and Mayweather Promotions). The gate is the same. The house (MGM Grand) keeps all sales until a certain level - again usually to recoup cost. The level is probably much lower since MGM probably makes most of their money from the hotel, food and gambling that the fight brings in.
