Is Mayweather the perfect fighter?

Mayweather cant bang like Joe Louis could, most of mayweathers stoppage victories have came because of sharp shots, I know power isn't everything but its just aswell because he hasn't got much.

 

I wouldn't agree with those who claim that Mayweather has no power in his shots. If he didn't have it, then his opponents with a good chin would be able to walk through his shots which is not the case. Floyd obviously has very solid shots otherwise he wouldn't be able to do what he does. He's not among the biggest punchers in the game, but his punches are good enough. From what I've seen, he never seems to look for a KO in order to lower the risk or getting hit and hurt. He seems to be fine with the decision victories.

Of course, he isn't the perfect fighter because such a fighter doesn't exist. Imo the most well rounded and the most skilled boxer in the pros is Rigondeaux. Mayweather is also definitely up there among the top guys, but not #1 Imo.

 

That has a lot to do with the fact that hes been fighting 24 pounds above his original weight in a generation where fighters cut weigh for the weigh-in and rehydrate 20 lbs over night. Most of the fighters @154 could be fighting at 160 or 168.

He comes in the ring at 150 fighting at Jr Middle.
Theres guys who come in at 150 that fight at 135.
Pacquiao and Castillo used to do it.

As good as Floyd is, Ricardo Lopez was closer to being "the perfect fighter" than Floyd is.

 

Woah that fight was between a good big man vs a good little man lets not act like Jmm was really a threat at the weight they fought at..And if. Canelo did have such agreat IQ do you think he would have been beaten as easy as he was with his size? I don't think so !

 

The perfect fighter would pretty much destroy his opponent every time, that's something Floyd doesn't have.

 

From a text book stand point he's excellent

He lacks power
Horrible on the ropes
Suspect chin


Lets compare to prime James toney

Both are undefeated at this point but toney has faught much tougher guys

Toney slips punches better
Floyd is more athletic
Toney hits much much harder
And (surprisingly) much much better combination puncher
But the single biggest reason toney has better defense ( offense wise it's not even close )
Toney fights so damn well off the ropes


Mayweather is good in this era, but pacquiao aside this era is ****

Mayweather has good timing, but he can't swing his body into punches to generate extra power
His technique for power is ameteur at best

Lets (again) compare with toney, and (why not) pacquiao

Floyd is very angular, he can't get his hips into his punches
He hits clean but without authority
PAC really uses his huge thick thighs and gets great torque, huge power from his frame, completely n anther level.

Dude Pacs power is so overrated when was his last stoppage?

 

he lacks killer instinct as of late he does not have huge punching power but every fighter he has faced (even guys who outweighed him) have all said he punches ALOT harder then you think and he always earns there respect..

 

what in the actual ****. you have 15 thousand posts on a boxing forum and you are going to honestly contest the almost globally agreed opinion that floyd mayweather has ELITE LEVEL RING IQ?
