Is Mayweather v Pacquiao not happening a good thing???

It will certainly be a boring fight, I agree with that much. Floyd will attempt to henpeck his way to victory, drop a close decision and cry robbery. But it does need to happen and I have no issue with money being spent on making it possible. What I would like to see is less money wasted on hypejobs like Berto and Jacbos and, over here, Jeffries and Mitchell. Use that money to make a healthier scene incorporating the ideas you mention above.

 

No, because it means we have to hear about it for another 6 months at least, they should make the fight now and get it over with so people can talk about something else for a change, that is unless the fight is a controversial decision, then we'll never hear the end of it!

Well straight away I have to say no. Its a very very bad thing.

First of all some of the fights you mentioned, theres a reason why they never produced. There was always a fighter at a disadvantage. Whether they were out of there prime or in a higher weight class there was always an aspect which meant 1 or 2 of the fighters were not performing at there highest level. This means two things will happen.

1) One fighter completley dominates (examples Lewis vs Tyson)
2) The fighter at a disadvantage uses negative tactics to win (Mayweather vs De La Hoya)

With Pacquao agaisnt Mayweather niether fighter is at a disadvantage. You could say Pacquiao is a few weight divisions above his prime, but i tend to think Mayweathers best weight was between 135 and 140lbs. The fight can be great in so many ways.

* Mayweather could completley dominate, and cement his place in history as one of the greatest fighters.
* One fighter could be down in the first few rounds and rally to win
* Pacquiao could completley destroy Mayweather and despite it being a 50-50, everyone would be shocked.
* Pacquiaos speed could draw Mayweather into trading allot more than were used to.

All of the above would show us something we have never seen before and make it a fight to remember.

Also, when listing great fights your just throwing out the blood and guts affairs. You don't need 4 knockdowns and both fighters cut for it to be a classic. Theres been plenty of great fights which are based around high quality boxing and tactics. Hearns vs Leonard 1 was not a slugfest. Was it not a great fight?

and with regards to 24/7..............Mayweather is 24/7. The reason Paul Williams, Tim Bradley, Wladamir Klitscko wouldn't be good on a show like that..........there boring. Fightcamp 360 without Froch and Abraham would be shocking.

Which is why I think Pac-May will be terrible also. For a start, Floyd's fights are normally dull affairs anyway; plus it's going to be in his best interest to make it boring as engaging will be playing into Pac's hands. Floyd will try and henpeck his way to victory.

 

No its not a good thing. Any time you have two great fighters at the same weight and they don't fight can never be twisted into something good, no matter which way you look at it.

 

Personally I do not find Mayweather out husteling someone dull. each to there own.

 

His fights lack drama. What he does is admirable but totally uninspiring.

 

perhaps....but its simular to watching Barcelona just wrip through someone.

Uninspiring........not when you recognize how hard he works in the gym.
