is mayweather's defense so good that you dont focus on his regular offensive skills? im a huge mayweather fan. he's number one an all that.. but watching cotto fight which got me to remember seeing this in others. right hook of his. is thrown very amateurish. fact is its. countered and thrown at the right time.. which he gets credit for the genius of that.. but the way he throws it.. its close to a open hand slap. what does he do if he meets a defensive minded fighter that does not try to go after him? everyone wants to go after him. only person i see that one is broner and thats jus not gona happen
I like the eay he throws his hooks. He doesnt telegraph the punch. He'd feint the right like its coming straight down the middle and turn it into a right hook. Or like vs Marquez when he feinted the left hand makin it look like a jab and turned it into a left hook putting marquez down. Its not 'amaturish' at all.
The greatest defense is to not get in the ring. Floyd: I'm a smart man and no money is worth my health. Call me a coward if you want.
I'd love to be AMATEAURISH at age 35 that is 43-0 undefeated and 7 time world champion in 5 different divisions. By your logic, you got other boxers that might throw proper right hook but got ktfo or has lost already in the past. I'd choose Mayweather anyday.
my point is.. it must be the defense thats gets the undefeated credit.. he throws the hook properly not slap it he would may have a higher knockout rating..
he does not turn it over.. i like the way precision he throws it.. he knows when to, but the technique i dnt understand how an why its done that way. could be his hands issue.. my point is.. its more of his defense that gets him thru fights
Mayweather's offense is actually UNDER appreciated, because he isn't so active with it. You won't find a better example of a Boxer selecting the right punch at the right time, no matter where you look.
The punch is thrown to push their head in so he can catch them with the left hook, or upper cut. I'm positive the dude can throw a perfect right hook, or for that matter any punch you can think of, in a text book manner.
