DM wanted Roy to come there, Roy wanted DM to come here, and I think HBO was not willing to throw up as much money as they would have liked.

    :patsch see below

What i think happened with the WBC belt is Nunn was Jones Jr's manditory and Jones refused 2X to defend it against Nunn and vacated the WBC belt instead. Nunn ended up losing to Rocchigiani at which point Jones asked for the WBC belt back and got it. Rocchigiani then sued the WBC and won something like 30 million dollars (too bad they didn't go under)

As for why Jones didn't fight Rocchigiani i have no idea. RJJ would probably claim that Germany was corrupt ( Pay no attention to the Americans and the WBC who kindly stole the belt back for him rather than actually have to fight)

Because Michalczewski was Prime when he lost to Gonzales :patsch

Jones didn't just refuse to fight Nunn, that was when he had plans to go up to Heavyweight and fight Buster Douglas, and that is when he vacated the belt, you make it sound like he would rather give Nunn the title than fight him.

Whilst i think Jones would have won, i tink Michalczweski would have pushed him all the way (i am a massive DM fan).

What people need to realise is that out of the two fighters Jones fighting in Germany would probably have brought most money imo. DM wasnt a big name in the US.

Who do i blame? Both fighters, if they wanted to make the fight, it could have been made.

Nunn was his manditory & he declined fighting him twice. Can you provide a source saying that he vacated the WBC belt specifically to fight Douglas? This was the cause of his refusal to fight him on two seperate occasions?

In any event the corruption the WBC displayed in order to hand the belt back to Jones after Rocchigiani legitimately won it rather than Jones actually fight him for it is indisputable. Ironic that Jones always barks about corruption yet has no problem with it so long as he is the recipient benefiting from it.

I am not arguing that Rocchigiani was wrongfully stripped, but it was well known Jones had intentions to fight Buster Douglas, but later dropped out of the fight because his father advised him not to do it.

Do you have a source declaring that Jones declined Nunn on two different occasions? I find it funny that you know of Roy refusing to fight him twice, but didn't know about the Buster Douglas fight.

I honestly believe any one of those fighters could have got Roy in the ring had they tried hard enough, Tarver proved that.

Jones NEVER vacated the WBC belt. Nor was he ever stripped.

Jones SIGNED to fight Rocco. Rocco pulled out.

They even had a press conference set up to promote the fight and Rocco never showed. He was more content on geting the belt in the courts than by fighting Jones, smart move by him, it saved him a beating.
