This is exactly the criteria I'd use. Saying a guy is a big welterweight would imply he should be, or at least would be average size, at junior middleweight. I see Cotto as a smaller junior middleweight when picturing him with guys like Dzinziruk, Martinez, Angulo, etc. Maybe he would have been a big welterweight in the 70s or 80s, but these days, he's not a big welterweight.

Cotto is not big. And he is not more muscular than other guys. But Cotto gains weight very easiliy. He admits to being fat as a kid. Thats why he needs to be carefull with what he eats. Some guys are bless with great metabolisms and others don't. One think is sure. He will need stamina and speed tohave a chance against Pacquiao. So, I hope he is training harder then ever.

How fast he drops it is irrelevant...

He should not put on that much weight in the first place.

How fast he gains it,and that he's that heavy in the first place is the issue.:deal

    You mean Cotto is SHORTER.

But as far as WEIGHT goes...Cotto is up there with the big boys.

He adds more lbs after the weigh in than MOST fighters at 147.

Actually during the 70's and 80's most welterweights were big in comparison to todays welterweights.

And to answer the thread question, I would'nt say Cotto is a big or small welterweight, I would physically describe him the way George Foreman described Cotto during his fight with Victoriano Sosa and that is 'solid'. Cotto is just a physically solid welterweight.

I finally agree with yo punk ass...

He is not a big welterweight. And I am actually sick of people using this as an excuse for the way he is about to pulvarize Pac in under 4 Rounds.

Seriously, you Cotto-***gots have nothing to worry about. I'm just mad that after he easily disposes of Pac, everyone will be on this big kick about how ****in great he is...

Well, if you agree with me then I'm more or less complete as an ESB poster, I might as well stop posting.

PS: Don't you think I didn't see your "prediction" of a Cotto KO in the other thread. As I said there, I smell jinx and if my boy loses badly I'll find you and crucify yo ***** ass.

So, before the fight you just hate him, after the fight -if he loses- you'll go find him and kill him. Cool stuff.

I hope you're right in your prediction though, you nuthuggin piece of ****. :good

You guys are absolutely ******ed if you think making 147 from 160 lbs is normal. Can't believe some people come here for boxing insight. Laugh my ass off, listen put down the cheese puffs, and try and lose a pound. I'll be making fun of Calzaghe and the rest of you idiots.

yeah, he did. the guy is absolute SOLID muscle, not to mention a little taller. the main reason clottey really looks bigger to me is he's very dense and his head weighs like 80 pounds.

Entertaining post. But is if his head is as big as you suggest, the rest of him isn't all that big. But he is big, that's the thing. He is. And Cotto was right there with him in terms of size. SOLID.
