Is Miguel Cotto A Legit Opponent for Floyd Mayweather in May?

    it seems like Arums not done milking his cash cow pac yet before feeding him to floyd so floyd gotta fight somebody. so whats the next best thing? i think Cotto. Cotto is now a free agent and a great ticket seller, hes proved this by constantly selling out the MSG. and rumors are that Cotto vs Margarito did up to 600K in PPV sales. thats pretty damn good if u not floyd or manny.

    Hes a great name to have on your resume and still a live opponent that hasnt lost it yet, still on top of his game, and looked great in his last fight. he only has 2 losses and one was possibly a cheater(he avenged that lost btw). so people shoudnt be able to criticize this fight like the Mosley fight where he was in his late 30's.

    I think it might happen based on the timing of Floyd and his opponents, for example, Hatton being undefeated, Mosley destroying Margo, and Ortiz Destroying Berto. Both of those are great career defining victories and Cotto whooping on Margarito fits in that category too. the time is now for Floyd.

    and to add even more hype to the fight i hope they have a faceoff and talk about how they were supposed to fight in 05 and 08 so we can hear both sides of their stories face to face and have max kellerman compare their victories against the same opponents. I dont know about y'all but i would be pretty hyped about this fight.

    to me this fight makes sense fanwise and moneywise. What y'all think? If not Manny, is Miguel Cotto a legit opponent to fill the space? i think so :good

    of course. He has a pretty good chance of winning as well. I would give Floyd mad props for taking this fight.

    hell yeah i hope its at MSG. NY got a lot of blacks and ricans. vegas is mostly just mexicans in the crowd. floyd and Cotto will both get alot of love in NY. that place will be packed

    Would be a hell of a fight and event. I'm 100% down if Pac is out.

    He is cause he avenged that loss to Margo with good boxing skills and in excellent fighting style and he is in that stage where even having lost to Manny, he is a credible opponent for Mayweather specially at 154 pounds. Remember Shane TKOed Margo too and Mayweather had the balls to face him so why wouldn't he do it with Cotto? B'sides, these guys, Manny and Mayweather, are cleaning everybody and copycat each other, Oscar, Hatton, Shane, JMM, Manny beat Clottey who beat Zab, Mayweather beat Zab himself, so there's Cotto left for Mayweather to prove he's better than Manny without risking that fight as yet.

    well said, i just hope people dont use an excuse saying that cotto is washed up if he happens to lose. i hate that ****.
