we won't know until Cotto retires. Tito struggled with boxers, Cotto struggles with pressure fighters. Tito had massive power, Cotto a better body attack IMO. But you're right, he will have a very hard job coming close to Tito's resume. But that doesn't mean he can't be a great fighter in his own right, I can't believe this backlash he's having over having a close fight. Would people prefer it if he just fought bums and blew them away in a couple of rounds?????????
Indeed :good Cotto should take a few tips from him, otherwise he's gonna' keep being prone to uppercuts! Seriusly though, if a fighter was amazing in every aspect he'd be a genius. No one is saying Cotto is Ray Robinson. But even Tito had glaring defensive mishaps, and lifted his back foot when he threw power shots.....little errors that do not ruin a fighter. So why is Cotto being castigated for not being 'perfect'? And if he beats Pac he will get 'oh, well Pac is a small guy. No credit for this win'.
True, he's good fighter with glaring flaws. If he finds a way to improve them then he has a chance to go to the next level, but until then....
The 'next' level? He's fighting (and beating) the top guys in his division. he's lost once (to a guy who may or may not have cheated and was massive for the weight) and still wants to take on top competitors. You must mean ATG? well, as a two-weight World champ and a consistent performer with a good line of names on his resume, I would say he is 'great'..he's no Ray Robinson, but he's certainl a level above the likes of Gatti...........a level below the likes of Hearns...........he has a better resume than Joe Calzaghe already IMO and people say he is an 'ATG'
Until Bob Arum lets him fight PW who has been begging to fight him for two years now, Cotto fans should lay off this little myth. It gets old.
that he has taken on all the top WW... He hasn't. He still has some work left. Not saying Cotto himself is personally scared, but Arum clearly sees something that makes him refuse to even mention Paul's name. And PW has been begging for Cotto for two years now.
Paul would be better off fighting at 154 and 160. he would smash Cotto to bits in seconds. Is this why Cotto is getting a hard time? Due to a small amount of nuthuggers? Unfair IMO
Paul is a welterweight. He walks around lighter than Miguel, Clottey, Margo, Berto, and just about everyone else. He makes 147 with absolute ease. Enough of the excuses. And I didn't call you names. I'm keeping it serious out of respect for the thread starter...:good And how can you claim Cotto is the best WW making this kind of admission about another WW.
I never claimed Cotto to be the best Welter. And Williams walks around at about 155 I've heard..........so yeah I'm sure he could make Welter. I said Paul would smash Cotto in a few seconds, not the other way around. I'm unsure of what you're trying to say mate, I wasn't flaming you, and I wasn't accusing you of being a nuthugger :good
No he is not overrated, but he is not the same fighter he was 2-3 years ago.... he has nightmare's about antonio margarito still.
Sorry Aiken, have seen your previous post............I was referring of course to Williams seeming more concerned with the 154 and 160. If he wants to fight Cotto and Miguel refuses, okay. But I think Cotto WOULD fight him....but would also get slaughtered IMO
just got the decision in his last fight ,always fights hard and against top fighters but in my opinion is slightly overated ,
