In a way yes, he's definatly not the fighter he was pre-Margarito.

But I will only say for sure once I see how he does against Foreman.

Otherwise he not all that bad, it's not like he has a glass jaw or extreamly diminished skills now.

Mosley is 38 and is certainly in decline. You won't find many that would say otherwise. If Cotto was at his peak, I don't think he would've struggled with Clottey the way he did. I think Cotto is slower, and definately past his best.

  4. I agree with most of this. Margarito is a bad matchup for Cotto. Pacquiao is just better.

Who has Cotto really beaten? Zab Judah?? What an accomplishment, that puts him right up there with the other ATGs who beat Zab like Baldomir and Clottey. He outboxed Shane Mosley? Great. Shane was way past his best, and Ricardo Mayorga did a similar job before being KOed. Both Hatton and Khan had better outings against Malignaggi - not exactly elite fighters, either.

Cotto needs to quit. He has a glass jaw and because of that he will never be an elite fighter.

He kind of remind me of Meldrick Taylor, at this point Cotto is damaged goods and should seriously consider retirement. I don't think its good to continously see him getting beat to a pulp in the ring.

Cotto struggled with Zab and had to go low to slow him down, at 140 he was hurt and buzzed numerous times (Corley had him out on his feet), now Clottey is a full fledged WW who performed better against both Zab (the tko was coming) and Margo, Cotto was never gonna have an easy time with Clottey. He may or may not be as confident as before but his speed and reflexes don't look to bad. Cotto was just never as good as advertised and against Manny Pac, it was clear going in that he wouldn't have the durability needed to win.

As for Mosley, 10 yrs ago he was known for having ridiculous speed, which today is gone along with his reflexes and stamina. Many on here seem to believe that he isn't in decline and at 39 he will easily beat anyone not named Mayweather. IMO the fact that Shane lost to Cotto 3 years ago was a sign that he was done.

I think he about 3 fights from retirement and still a great fighter, though not what he was.

He has already done plenty to make me a big fan, fighting greats whenever possible with not a cherrypick in sight. He hasn't won them all but thats what real fighters do.

Plus I absolutely love the beating he put on Judah. It was a beautiful thing to see... Just great...

Yes he is... ive said this since jennings. He hasnt looked 100% in MULTIPLE aspects since margarito.

Hes more stiff, he doesnt commit as much on his punches, his important body attack is gone, his will is broken easier, he loses his bearing a bit easier, hes sloppier. Among other things.

That has nothing to do with him being my favorite fighter, he will be my favorite regardless, but that is the truth in my eyes.

He's 29 years old and he's only had two losses so it's hard to say. You could say that he simply stepped up in competition, or he ran into some bad style matchups. Clottey, Margarito , and Pacquiao are all bad style matchup's for Cotto . Guys who can take his shots and dish it back will always give him problems.

IMO he is, he has simply taken too much punishment over his career, and Im not even including the Pacquiao and Margarito fights, he too significant punishment against Corely ( severely rocked), Abdullaev, Torres (busted ear drum), Judah (rocked multiple times) the Clottey, Margarito and Pacquiao fight just sealed the deal.

Sadly yes. A prime Miguel Cotto would of beaten Pacquiao in a decision. His speed, crushing power, timing, and most of all his confidence is not there. All you need to do is look at his fight against Mosley or Judah. Cotto wasn't even half the fighter he was when he fought Pacquiao.
