He was better at 154 than he was at 160, his 78 inch reach gave him more of an advantage at 154.

Not a bad choice at all. Terry Norris should certainly be up there. Winky Wright was a couple of coin flip decisions that would have made him undefeated at the weight.

Winky was maybe considered boring at the time but I've hardly seen someone neutralize his opponents best traits like he did. He beat a lot of people that were more physically gifted than him, though he did have gifts, of course.

Mayweather should be ranked lower than McCallum on an atg sense. Mike McCallum was a killer who tried to fight the best, only they ducked him - SRL, Hearns, Hagler, maybe Duran.

That's a myth that's totally false neither of the FAB 4 ducked McCallum.

The only fighter who was scheduled to face McCallum was Duran and guess who Duran fought instead of McCallum ? Hearns. So that's hardly a duck is it ? challenging a prime Thomas Hearns who's probably the worst stylistic match up for Duran in history.

McCallum only started to gain real recognition in 1986 when he beat Julian Jackson by that time Leonard was still in retirement, Hagler was on the verge of retirement, Hearns was at Middleweight.

When McCallum did eventually move up to Middleweight in 1988 he suffered a one sided points loss to Sumbu Kalambay which halted his career for a significant amount of time. By that time Hagler had already retired and Leonard and Hearns had already moved up in weight, and Duran only had 1 more year in him in which was still relevant after 1989 he lost to Leonard and basically that was it for Duran at the top level.

So as i said it's a huge myth the FAB 4 avoided McCallum it simply isn't true.

Too true. How some people try to rewrite history makes me laugh. Foreman ducked Holmes being another example.

He never proved that, McCallum was special and had a 78 inch reach. Hearns beat Benitez at 154, he would have destroyed Floyd.
