This would be the first really good jab Lomachenko's faced. Russell Jr. had that kind of jab that seems typical of American southpaws in recent years, busy but lacking in variation and accuracy, and Rigo, well, Rigo used his lead hand well in that lulling, distracting way of his, but it was never much of a scoring weapon in its own right (and he was a small, old, inactive fighter, to boot). Walters' jab was never too impressive, notwithstanding his considerable reach. Mikey's educated precision left is his bread and butter, he's tortured fighters with it and everything he does depends on it. This fight would definitely tick a box for Lomachenko if he takes Mikey's jab away and gets the W.
Beating Mikey would put Loma almost to the Floyd, Manny category. Beating Crawford or at least being competitive with him would complete the path.
This. Garcia knocking out Loma doesn't really do much for his career. Loma doesn't bring in money or a large viewership like Broner did. After Mikey gets a title at 140 I think he'll wait around for a vacant title or an easy champion at 147 and get a payday against Crawford.
Of course he's interested, but first things first. He goes and becomes a champion in his 4th weight class in february, then he drops back down for any fight that's lucrative enough for him to defend the WBC Lw title he will still hold on to, which opens the doors to the Lomachenko fight, obviously. You guys all want these fights right away, but as long as I've been a boxing fan, there's always been a buildup for the big fights.
