I think everyone would agree that Fedor is the GOAT at heavyweight.

Is Minotauro the consensus choice for second best ever??

Probably, yeah. I'd rank Crocop third.

Not only do I think he is the 2nd best heavyweight ever, I think you would be hard pressed to argue against a top 10 p4p placement as well. Part of the reason Fedor has achieved his level of greatness is owed to his victories over Minotauro.

Think about it. He has a great record with great names. He has lost but he has also beaten Henderson and Barnett. Discount the Fedor losses as nothing because he is the GOAT.

Hindsight will be important on Nog's recent run. He looked bad v Sylvia but salvaged the win. He looked bad v Mir and unbelievably got stopped. Now he is facing Couture. If he looks bad again and loses then I think people will ignore his last 3 fights as age.

Nogs record is silly. It's the sort of record you forget about because of recent performances.

Looking at it on Sherdog now - Overeem, Horn, Henderson, Coleman, Herring, Sapp, Fedor, Rodriguez, Cro Cop, Werdum, Barnett, Sylvia, Mir and now Couture. **** me, that is nuts.

Trust me mate that win was legit. Nog was literally amazing. How he managed to armbar Sapp after the beating he took il never know. Sapp literally tombstoned him on his head and beat him to crap. That was the Nog i remember.

His performance against Sapp is the reason why I immediately thought no, there must be someone better. He very nearly lost that fight, he got into bad positions far too many times and was inches away from being KOed. Cro Cop on the other handled Sapps size advantage like a true great should, he just made him look like the skill-less oaf that he was.

I am aware of the fact that greatness should not be judged on your performance against Bob Sapp. It's just what stuck in my mind.

CC fought Nog under K1 rules. Nog fought him when he ws undefeated in his early PRIDE days under MMA rules. Sapp back then was seen as an unstoppable force because of his sheer size and brute strength. No one had beaten him to that date. He even held two back to back wins over Ernesto Hoost. Sapps a can now but peoples memories are real short.
