Definitely. Dont be fooled by the Mir fight, every legend reaches that point, Ive seen almost all of Nog`s fights & have came to a definite conclusion..... 1. Fedor 2. Nogueira ------------ The rest
Certainly the second best of the modern era. You would have to look further back into the past of MMA to find anybody really. Ken Shamrock in his prime had an incredibly impressive HW (or at least openweight) record, but almost all of his best work was in Pancrase. Coleman put two great runs together, Kerr looked great for a short period of time. None of them really match Nog's career though. In terms of head to head, I would be a little more hesitant, but accomplishments absolutely.
I've watched it before. Typical tough nut Nog getting the victory by any means necessary. I'm solely basing it on people laughing at Sapp, his record and some of his questionable looking performances. Sapp v Nog was a case of a giant beast of a man not being very skilled but possessing god given size and strength. Nog never has been very big.
Iv seen Nog in real life at the Seni Expo 2 years ago. trust me that dude is big!! It beggers belief what Sapp looks like in real life as even i was taken aback by how big Nog actually was. He must have been around a solid 240-250 when i saw him.
Oh yeah, I'm only talking relatively. He has a relatively thin build. Nog is 6'3 I think so he is a big bloke.
I dont even mean height. I mean im not too small myself and he dwarfed me. His head is huuge!! Then again so was Frank Bruno's.. May be i have small head syndrome?
It can be deceptive. Danny Williams is only 6'1ish but his frame is frightening. The man is a mammoth.
Julius Francis is the same. When i used to train at the Peacocks i could literally stand behind him and you wouldnt see me.
Watched Nog vs Sapp a few days ago. Sapp's strength there is unreal strange how he became a joke of the sport. It looked as if Nog was out on the first slam Done brilliant to get out of it. I had to laugh at Sapp jumping over over his guard to get one punch in. Imagine being Nog in that position you would **** yourself seeing that beast coming down on you
With out doubt as probably already mentioned he was the man between 2000-2003 it is a shame the Mir defeat is on his record it doesn't seem right next to Fedor, Barnett & Hendo.
