Start out by watching Spider Silva bouts on youtube. If that doesn't grab you check yourself for a heartbeat.

Yeah, the fights vs. Cote and Maia definately should do the trick!

    Excellent points!

    Basically what this guy said.

Just avoid watching Jon Fitch and you'll be fine.

Been watching it for years, Don't get why people compare it to Boxing, to me they're completely different and MMA is not on Boxing;s level when it comes to excitement. When I ask people if they watch Boxing, some answer me "nah I watch UFC/MMA", or "I think UFC is better", That to me is like some one telling me they watch NBA when I just asked them if they like Football(soccer), like what does MMA have to do with Boxing, different combat sports, how come nobody ever tells me they watch, K1 or Thai Boxing, or some other combat sport, as if MMA was competition for Boxing:lol:...

I take that back. You should definitely watch Fitch's fight with Hendricks, that was a surprisingly entertaining fight.

I feel like I would rather watch a bad boxing match than a bad MMA match, but when either sport is at their pinnacle, it is indescribable. I can;t choose which sport I like better between boxing and MMA, but I also don't feel that it is necessary. I love both sports and I hate seeing anyone disrespect either.

Good MMA is epic. Bad MMA is ga y pron with the clothes on. Good wrestlers like Sakuraba, Newton etc were extremely entertaining to watch. MMA is also more unpredictible than boxing.

What the OP should do is get a bunch of old MMA fights that are popular and take a look.

I’d watch ants fight, doesn’t matter to me but I love boxing. There’s something honorable to me about two people agreeing to fight under boxing rules. I’m older (I watched UFC 1 on PPV in my mid 20’s) and have taken martial arts my entire life (BB in Judo and years of Shotokan Karate) and I’m still working out. I just did a drop in Muay Thai class last month but I’m always watching boxing and training boxing. It’s just something I love. Plus, for me, I’ll be able to train boxing much later into my life then grappling or MMA. I’ve never had someone heal hook me under Queensbury rules.

That's because Boxing uses hands only, idiot.

I love Boxing, but it's application in a fight is limited. If your hands get taken away from you, you are screwed.

"But I'll land a punch and KO him first"

Yeah, the odds of that are astronomically high. Chances are high that you get into a clinch first.

Im not a fan of it. I find it quite boring how most of the fights end within 10 minutes because of MMA fighters having lower punch resistance than boxers. Im not going to say "boxing is the sweet science, MMA is a bloodsport" because thats wrong, in both sports you look to knock the opponent out, simple as that. Altgough, i think you should make your own desicion, some people may like the fact that the fights are usually less than 10 minutes.

It's not garbage, I enjoy watching a lot of it, just not as much as boxing. More bang for your buck and better athletes. Boxing has a great history and tradition also, we can talk about greats of the past vs current guys etc.. And boxing is more refined. Being elbowed or kneed in the head is pretty dirty innit. Overall a welcome addition to boxing but never going to replace it, whatever Dana White says.
