Is Mormeck really that strong a champion?

I am not in anyway questioning his abilities nor his accomplishment, what i mean is, i haven't seen him fight yet. I only know him by his record. since he avenged his loss to bell, i know his really a top-notch guy. I hear things like tough, strong when he is being described.

Now the real question is, is there anyone who is a legit threat to his position, and is he on the same caliber as those great cruisers before him namely juan carlos gomez and vassily jirov.

David Haye is a hell of threat to him and that fight is on. However Haye has said that win, lose or draw he's going to up to heavyweight, so unless Haye ruins mormeck he'll bounce back.

No, he is not. Which is why, among other reasons, he is likely to lose in his first defense, whether it's Ding OR Haye.

Huck is a big threat to any cruiserweight...looking forward to see his fight vs. IBF champ Steve Cunningham...

Mormeck is a strong one dimensional guy, that stays in great shape. No great fighter though.

    Once again, underrating him.

Mormeck is physically very, very strong. Has pretty much a come-forward style, power with either hand, but can box when he needs to as evidenced in the second Bell fight.

I think he's every bit on the level of Jirov in his prime. That would have been a great fight.

Gomez also was a great Cruiser, but Mormeck would have been stylistically difficult for him.

True he faded in the first Bell fight, but not the second one.

The best fighter at 200. Credit to him, he has convincingly beat every top fighter he has faced. Bell and Braiwaithe were the top guys and he beat em. Hill during this time has been his number 1. First he fought him for the title and then Hill maintain his status by being the regular champ.

His biggest threat is Haye and credit again he is facing him. He has already said he'll face Cunningham.

Mormeck has a quality record and is a quality champ.

I'm not so sure, there was open scoring in the rematch. Once Mormeck knew he had the fight won, he took it easy for the last 4 rounds. Bell was actually landing a lot of good shots I believe in the 4th and 5th round and I believe, if Mormeck had not known he was up so much ahead and continued fighting the way he did..it would of been a repeat of their first fight.

He's a Top10 Cruiserweight of all time, imo.
