is Mosely the best opponent Mayweather has ever faced?

Castillo -Prime..May really lost 1st fight ...Chico prime but having weight issues, Mayweathers most impressive win. Hatton? well theres no need to go there. DLH so shot Roach made a move on him with Paquiao and still DLH made it close. Marquez a feather weight counter puncher fights 20 lbs over were he should really be.

Maybe this faded version of Mosely is the best he ever fought?

the best fighter floyd has faced to date, is the rematch with castillo.

everyone thought the first fight was close, some even thought castillo won it. so to go back in there with that pressure of knowing people think you got a gift decision, and to win so comfortably. that was the best fighter he faced. the castillo coming off a very close decision loss to floyd.

other than that i'd say it was hatton, the guy was unbeaten an had thoroughly cleaned out his weight class, plus he won a title at WW previously, and peole said he had the style of pressure fighting to give floyd problems. but floyd dominated from round 6 onwards.

It's a tossup between Oscar and Shane. Castillo was the toughest matchup he had, but either Oscar or Shane would be the best fighter he faced. Expect this question to come up again if he beats Shane and talks with Pacquaio heat up again. With Floyd's talent, status in the sport, and the available opposition, there's no reason that he shouldn't be fighting really good fighters every time out. Berto, Bradley, Williams, Khan, and possibly Saul Alvarez, Cotto, and Margo are all good fighters out there for Floyd.

Yes. Mosley is experienced, big as ****, reach advantage, powerful, fast, iron chinned and has something to prove. Add Nazim to the mix and Mosley clearly has the best chance to take Floyds "0" imo.

I agree, and i also think the threat Mayweather faced in de la Hoya was pretty even with the threat he faces now in Mosley, also because the dlh fight was at 154 Oscar's comfort zone. But Mosley is generally more highly regarded and certainly more high-rated right now than Oscar was in 2007, so if Floyd wins this one, he'll probably get more credit for it. But i think Floyd's win over Oscar is kinda underappreciated.

    who is Saul Alvarez?

Castillo was the best fighter he faced at the time he faced him. Mosley today is better than Castillo was back then. Unfortunately at Mosley's age and with over a year away from the ring we don't know if he will be sharp on fight night. Thats not hating thats just how i feel about it. Mosley can still look sharp and lose the fight if Floyd looks even more sharp... we will see on fight night.

the funny thing is that and old past his prime mosley is the best opponent in mayweathers career that tells you all you need to know about how he picks his opponents

the best version of Castillo is not of the same pedigree as a Mosely even this old but still good version. Hatton isnt even in the same ballpark. Only DLH and Marquez are in that type of class. DLH was so shot Roach made a move on him with Paquiao and even that shot version of DLH who couldnt pull the trigger made it close vs Mayweather. Marquez was 20 pounds over his best weight a light counterpunching master who should campaign no higher than 130 and well he at least survived twelve.

at the same time Mosley is p4p#3 right now and fighting Floyd at the division he is champ in so its normal that he is the best opponent. He would be the best opponent for any active fighter other than Pac and Hopkins.

Mayweather cleaned up everywhere before going up to 147. People were accusing him of ducking Hatton when he was fighting at 140 and we all know what happened next.

Prime, undefeated Corrales, Castillo, Chavez, N'Dou, Gatti, DLH, Judah, Hatton, JMM.

Card should be better and will be better come May 2.

    Give it a rest already.

Shane and Oscar may be bigger names than Castillo, but Castillo is up there as far as his best oppositions to date. The Oscar he fought clearly showed he was already slow and a lot of the reflex was gone. We'll still have to see Shane although I see Shane winning over Floyd.

You said it yourself, there is no reason why he shouldn't be fighting any of these guys. :deal

Shane Mosley is the best opponent Mayweather will have faced. Come on with this Castillo junk. Castillo was a nice fighter, Mosley is a hall of famer. You could make an argument for Oscar, but Mosley beat Oscar, and most consider Mosley better then Oscar.

If Mayweather beats Mosley he deserves credit. Remember right now, Mosley is ranked by most as the 1 or 2 best welterweight in the world and currently the 3rd best fighter in the world p4p. Floyd deserves credit for taking this fight.

What is up with the faded Mosley crap too?? If he was so faded why does Yahoo and Ring have him number 3 P4P in the world. He is a legitimate 1st ballot hall of famer. This isn't an overrated Ricky Hatton, or a small Juan Manuel Marquez. This is Shane Mosley folks....he is not coming play nice.
