The question is how much of his ability is left. It looked like a decent amount in his last fight but that was a year ago.

Yes, and why would anyone even think he was? A 38-year-old man who was an established lightweight champion, welterweight champion, light middleweight champion then welterweight champion again. To say he's in his prime would be ludicrous, but he's still a tough draw for anyone and will be Mayweather's toughest test to date should that fight come off.
