So, I rewatched Mosley two fights against De La Hoya and then immmediately after I watched Mosley - Winky I. The HBO commentators spoke about how Mosley turned down a third fight with De La Hoya for $12 million to fight Winky for $3 million all cause De La Hoya wouldnt give him a 50-50 split even after he beat him twice (it was only really once, i thought he lost the rematch). In hindsight, is that one of the most stupid decisions ever made in boxing, bearing in mind that he had already beaten DLH once (or twice). He still could have fought Winky after right? Is the reason that he's chasing fights now the fact that he made decisions like this??? What'dya think???
Hindsight 20/20, it was a terrible decision. Shane is not a draw, and he didn't realize that. He should've taken the $12 mill and fought Hoya again. The two Wright losses set his career back a few years. Now he's resorted to begging for fights now that his career is coming to an end.
It's as Merchant put it, about both Mosley after beating Oscar, and Forrest right after he beat Shane: beating Michael Jordan doesn't make you Michael Jordan.
Agreed in hindset it looks awful but Mosley found a way to dig himself out of that hole where he lost out of 6 fights. Shane was just to proud to take less then a guy he already defeated twice and why wouldnt he ? Plus he obviously thought he would beat Winky and a fight with Tito Trinidad was already signed if he won and that was a huge payday to look forward to.
Was his dad his manager then ? Who promoted him before GBP ? Im just tryna figure out which ****** is to blame for him ending up this way
Just like Hopkins should have took 40 percent of the purse in the Jones rematch back in 02 but Hopkins just Mosley are 2 ******ed fighters that thinks just cause they beat big time draws that they are big time draws too. I guess both watch too many Rocky movies.
Hopkins fought DLH for $12 million, and he won. Since turning down Jones some of the big names he has fought are Joppy, Trinidad, DLH, Taylor, Wright, Tarver, Pavlik and now he gets a 50-50 against Jones. Hopkins' decision was MUCH MUCH MUCH wiser than Mosleys and he's probably made millions more that SSM in that period. Hopkins is a genius.
Hopkins ended up getting $10 mill to fight Oscar. He would've received less than that with the Roy Jones offer. Hopkins has gotten some of his biggest paydays and his rep has only grown stronger since he turned down that offer. Meanwhile, Roy Jones has gotten his ass handed to him several times since refusing bend in his stance with Hopkins. His rep has taken a huge hit, as has his earning potential. I fail to see how Hopkins ****ed up with that one.
Hopkins could have gotten more then 12 million fighting De la hoya if he would have accept 40 percent of the purse for the Jones rematch back in 2002 cause if Hopkins beat Jones in 02 then fighting De la hoya , Hopkins would get pay way more then 12 million dollars. Hopkins still feels he's a huge draw in which it was very hard to get the Jones deal finally to be done. Mosley is just plain stupid when it comes to money percent split. Remember when Mosley said "I'm willing to give Pacquiao 60 percent so that we can make the fight happen."<<<<Mosley talks like it should be 50/50 or 60 percent in his favor.
Hopkins would have gotten way more then 12 million fighting Oscar if he would have fought Roy Jones in 2002 cause if he beat Jones in 2002 then Hopkins can have the leverage of getting more then 12 million. Hopkins is a very greedy guy that thinks he's a huge draw. Now he's fighting a bum fighter on versus channel lol.<<<Yea some kind of draw is Hopkins lol.
