    How much of a force does gravity exert on a punch traveling one foot up or one foot down? The amount of force would be infinitesimal and has practically no effect on the impact of a punch.

    Most boxers always say punching down to smaller opponents is awkward and they lose power.
    You're relying more on your arms than the leverage you get from punching on the level or up.
    Either way gravity has absolutely no part to play in this, it is all to do with the mechanics of the body.
