Frazier fans: Frazier dominated Ali in the FOTC.

Also Frazier fans: Frazier was beaten out of his prime in the FOTC, so his subsequent losses to Ali don't really count.

I feel like people try to be contrarian a bit too often. Yes, Ali was the better boxer.

All in all Ali was definitely a better boxer than Frazier.

We must be listening to different crowds. I overwhelmingly hear the opposite - that this is Ali’s Cannae, or Austerlitz, with Williams’ pitiable condition often left out of the narrative entirely, or only glancingly acknowledged.

He tired because Joe Frazier was working him over instead of George Chuvalo.

Just completed a long rebuttal to this & hit ‘Back’ instead of ‘Reply.’ You win this round but I’ll be back!

Can't think how many arguments I've wanted to end after that happened to me.
    Get well soon, Ney.

Sure, I wasn’t trying to take credit away from Joe but I do think Ali did tire quite a bit in his own right and until the first time he seemed to slow, he was definitely serving it up to Joe.

    :lol::lol::lol:

Rebuttal? I don’t do rebuttals. Gushing agreements, yes, but not rebuttals. They’re just plain nasty.:lol::lol:

    Was Frazier the better boxer?

    1) They fought three times
    2) Ali was always the older and more shopworn fighter.
    3) Ali won the rubber match in a stoppage
4.) Muhammad Ali was 8-3 against other members of the International Boxing Hall of Fame
    5) Joe Frazier was 1-4 against other members of the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

I don't think Frazier dominated Ali at all I scored it 2 years ago and had it 8-7 for Frazier with a 2 point round in the 11th round and 15th round.

But considering the fight wasn't scored on the 10 point must system and it was scored purely on a rounds basis it was IMO a very close fight.

Here's a way of looking at it. Rock, paper, scissors. Frazier and Norton stylistically were all wrong for Ali. Foreman stylistically was all wrong for Norton and Frazier. Look at how they did against each other.

I agree with the overall message, but dispute, ‘more shopworn.’ Frazier’s style drastically accelerated his ageing as a fighter. There is a reason beyond money Ali was fighting well before Frazier began, & well after he stopped.
