Is Mulsim Gadzhimagomedov ever going to have another professional fight?

    It's been a year and a quarter. He went back down to amateurs to win another IBA title, but that wrapped up in December. He's still recognized as WBA bridger champ, but there's no indication of him actually defending.

    Anyone have word on what he plans? Despite the fact that he is 29 and not at all dedicated to the pro ranks, I still like his style when he's putting the mustard on and not cruising like he did against Harth and Mchunu.

    Boxing is a dying sport. Pretty much just the UK, Mexico, and some third world countries that care anymore. Not a lot of opportunities.

    Yes, he's really inactive he's involved in contract negotiations with Julio Cesar La Cruz for a rematch in professional.

    Hmmm.

    We now have Zuffa boxing making a big push to create a big-time American promotor, and Gadzhi himself has the IBA behind him, so I think that the sport is less dying than it was even last year, and Muslim has plenty of opportunities.

    Not to mention BKBA, Misfits...

    Seems like boxing in one form or another is thriving.

    I find it weird how pro fighters who had a lot of success in the amateurs often have this pattern: go pro, have a few fights and create an unbeaten record, then suddenly decide that they prefer the amateurs instead.

    Gadzhimagomedov, Jalolov, De La Cruz, and so on.

    They get "frozen" out by the big time promoters.

    Kept inactive except for a few meaningless fights and not paid enough.

    The big promoters want boxers from their own countries, with a few exceptions.

    Gadzhi basically works for the IBA, though, so he'll always have a fight if he wants it.

    Can’t see there being a long queue of bridgerweight contenders banging on the WBA door, demanding to know when they are going to get their shot at the title.

    It won't make any difference. Boxing is on the level of bowling, pool, and darts in America. I guess those are popular spectator sports in the UK.

    But he has the IBA backing him. There will always be fights if he wants them.
