I say yes. A lot of people say that he lost to the first good fighter he faced in MAB, but then who were Tom Johnson, Manuel Medina, Kevin Kelley, Wilfredo Vasquez, and Vuyani Bungu? Were they bad fighters? No, these guys were on top and very dangerous when Hamed fought them, and he destroyed them all. Not to mention he dominated Featherweight for about six years. So is he underrated? Thoughts?

EXTREMELY underrated...as is evidenced by the replies onthis thread...how many of your guys' favorite fighters dominated a division for 4+ years?

nope, he's reached his true potential and the loss to barrera is a legit one. No need to give excuses why he lost. It is possible! Still one of the best.

I voted yes, because a lot of people seem to dismiss him as a joke fighter without ever watching his fights. He had incredible 1-punch power, an awkward style with a lot of natural talent/good reflexes, and the ability to KO B-level fighters with well-timed strange angled shots without difficulty. His toughness is definitely underrated and his performance against Barrera is very underrated. That fight is perceived as a near shut-out ownage win over Hamed, but it was actually a fairly competitive fight. However, Barrera beats him 10/10 times and same with Morales. I think JMM would truly shut him out and probably stop him if they fought around that time.

The one thing that's extremely underrated is his entertainment level. Everything about Hamed was exciting and fighters like Mayweather only wish they had 10% of the bad guy charisma he had. I loved watching Hamed fights when I was a kid and I still love watching them now.

All fighters are underrated by some and overrated by others. It all comes down to personal opinion. IMO, Naz was an elite fighter with a very unorthodox style that could look amazing against some ATG's, but would get beaten with some solid textbook skills, such as MAB's.

A fighter with a highly unorthodox style will always get beaten by a certain style. But can also beat other far more skilled fighters. Take Mayorga and Forrest. Naz has a chance of beating just about anybody at FW, because his style will inevitably match up horribly for certain fighters. If it does not, eg MAB, and it works in the opposite way, and he will probably get beat. But he would always have that great equaliser, power to knock anyone out.

ahh, hamedites always fall back on the ''prime motivated hamed under ingle'' destroys this guy and that guy BS. kevin kelley, who had seen better days, put him on the canvas 3x for god sake. barrera would always have broken down hamed, brian ingle or not. too bad marquez never got his hands on him, cause he'd bounce combinations off hamed's head all night.
