Juan Diaz: Questions remain in Cancun
Team Diaz Press Release: Former WBA, WBO and IBF champion Juan “Baby Bull” Diaz touched down to his hometown of Houston Sunday evening from Cancun, on the heels of his split decision loss to Nate Campbell. By Monday morning Diaz already was resuming his college courses at the University of Houston, not letting his disappointing defeat affect him..

Saturday night Juan was gracious in his loss, not giving any excuses but there are many FACTS that need to be heard.

Before the fight Juan’s ex promoter Don King decided to put Diaz under scrutiny for not resigning with DKP by disrespecting him and his team verbally and also with the help of big signs that were made so everyone could see, you would think that it was the presidential election with so many cheap shots and smear tactics.

There was also a press release from DKP talking about how “King dumps Diaz!” which was very humorous for those who really knew the real story, truth is that Juan’s contract expiration was Saturday night, right after the fight and there was no interest from Diaz to re-sign and that did not fly right with his ex promoter, so rather than take his defeat like Juan did Saturday night he decided to get dirty and throw low blows and lies.

Another FACT is that there was NO pre or post fight drug testing for both fighters. Not accusing him of course but it seems crazy that in a unification fight of this magnitude that no drug tests would be done especially since a new champion had been crowned, this should be looked into by the sanctioning bodies.

More FACTS, referee Jesus Salcedo worked his first title fight on Saturday night, how many referee’s get there first shot as a major unification fight on HBO?

During the fight Don King was chanting “And new” taking cheap shots at team Diaz while conversing with the representative of the IBF and walking by all of the judges while flashing a smile.

Many things were not right and many people surrounding the event were against Juan Diaz that night but he keeps his head up and will continue on, just a shame that he had fallen victim to his promoter, the promoter that vowed to work wonders for him.

    Only In Cancun!

Anyone else think this is abit odd to say the least??:think

It's a lot of circumstantial stuff that really amounts to nothing at all.

I mean, if this had been a robbery, it still wouldn't be solid, but at least it would have cast a dark light on it.

As it is, Campbell won the fight he was, deep down, capable of winning, as such was his potential.

Yeah, Diaz owned him, and if anything, the judging and refereeing favored Diaz, so I don't really see any controversy.

    That's a pretty crummy list.

The drug testing one, okay, so there was no drug testing. That's a fact and I'd rather there was one.

But insinuating that Campbell won because he was drugged up on the other hand is a terrible slander and does NOT have any 'fact' to back it up. Utterly disrespectful to a guy that, as far as I know, has never failed a drug test before.

Jesus Salcedo was a newbie ref? That's a fact, yeah.
It's also a fact that he was favouring Diaz and also screwed up the point deduction from Campbell for a perfectly legit punch being called as a headbutt. Sounds to me like this newbie was favourable to Diaz's chances rather than the other way round.

And Don King & Co were badmouthing and mocking them? Is that really the kind of thing a grown fighter wants to admit to being indimidated and thrown off by? Warren and Enzo Calzaghe were talking fantastic amounts of smack about David Haye but it didn't matter worth a damn in the end. That really shouldn't play on a fighter's mind if he's as good as he says he is.

I hope this was generated more by Diaz's camp than the man himself, because I would really lose respect for him with this Ruiz-like complaining.

He got outhustled, outpunched and outfought. Man up, take the loss, learn from it and don't try to brush it under the carpet with a laundry list of excuses.

I see no controversy. Galaxy Warrior looked awesome against Kid Diamond two and a half years ago. His performance this past weekend didn't look supernatural compared to that. Diaz gave up toward the end of the fight and he needs to come to terms with that.

I see. So while battling it out with another world-class professional prizefighter Diaz was emotionally traumatized because his forlorn friend mister trustworthy himself Don King said 'and new..!'.

"It wasn't the punches that hurt, it was the betrayal!' Juan Diaz' post fight comments.

....reaching is not a strong enough word.

    It's baffeling in my opinion
These are things that should be automatic not debated or ignored...
espescially a fight of this magnitude....****ing disgrace
    It's bull**** plain and simple
For something as standard and essential as a pre and post fight drug test to be ignored...takes away the credibility of the victory...like it or not it damages the victory...
We should'nt have to ask ourselves "Why did'nt this happen?"
