Is Nathan Cleverley the funniest thing in British boxing?

It's not about having the bollocks to stay off the bandwagon, it's about seeing what's right.

What's not right is that he is a world champion (technically, anyway) with multiple world title fights behind him but he's never fought a world level opponent. It really is that simple.

 

What so Bellew ain't world level in your opinion ?

 

Bellew hasn't in any way, shape or form, proven to be world level. I say that as a fan of the man aswell. He could go on to be in the future, but wins over a shot Edison Miranda and Danny McIntosh don't make you world level.

 

You may not take it seriously but he has wins over two men who are currently in the top ten RING rankings for 175.

I think there is a bias against Nathan when you look at how positive people on this site are about Tony Bellew. Tony looks good against McIntosh and is highly praised yet Cleverly beat him over three years ago.:verysad

I think Cleverly gets far too much stick on here to be honest.

Thing is lads Clev is getting as much a slating fighting this Hawk guy as Calzaghe did fighting Tocker but history won't recall the only reason Tocker was brought in was because Thomas Tate **** his pants a week out from first bells . I would have no problem with him at all if he didn't hold a world title, didn't claim to be a world champion, and didn't (have a promotor who) make up bull**** stories about people avoiding him. He has a good domestic resume, but that isn't enough to be called a world champion.

He is a bum fluff bearded ball sack, that is all I have to say on the matter.

 

So if you were a 24 year old kid and a quarter share of the world title fell into your lap (one you were prepared to fight for ) you would YOU knock it back right ? being billed as a World champion ( as bogus as these things are these days ) sells a fight better than one being promoted as a regional champ fighting would . in your opinionated perfect world every fighter would fight for the Undisputed title first time out same as mine but it ain't a perfect world these days is it with fragmented titles all over the place .

 

Nath being Welsh has **** all to do with it , he is getting slated by the arm chair masses and the kid is just that ( a kid ) lol i've been here for years mate and me being Welsh has never had much of a bearing on any of my boxing opinions , BTW where you from ?

 

I be looking to build myself a legacy to match what I believe my talent is. Sure if it started with an easy route to a world title I'd take that , but I'd want to be fighting the best of the rest soon afterwards. Not nothing defenses against fighters no one cares about.

And that is why Clev is pillared on here, not because he is Welsh, that is just a handy added bonus.

 

I agree with that. Froch would have to be insane to turn down an offer of a £1 million for an easy night's work. I know Froch says he can't move up to 175 but I think he'd still beat Cleverly anyway.

Bellew deserves a rematch, first fight was razor thin (I scored it a draw). FW though won't allow it. Cleverly is his prize pony and he won't allow someone like Bellew to ruin that, that's why I believe he threw Tony to the wayside after that first fight where Bellew so very nearly turned everything upside down.

Keep expecting Cleverly to fight no mark after no mark, because FW won't allow him to fight any genuine top 10 fighters for fear of his precious Nathan losing.
