There's no way Joe Calzaghe beats Andre Ward in 2007 either. Ward is a p4p great. It wouldn't have even been competitive

Freddie Norwood scraped that win in a truly awful fight, IIRC. Marquez was being overly cagey at that point and, following it, when on an absolute tear.

It was only the bombs-away approach of Pacman that slipped him up, and even then many people feel he did enough to win that fight.

It's not like he was 43 years old when they fought. Physically, he was still in his prime years.

If he had wanted to right the result, so to speak, all he had to do was get back in the game and rematch. I can't see Barrera ducking a man he dominated -- yes, MAB would want the lion's share of the purse but Nazzy could have taken the short end and tried to prove the result of the first fight was due to his lack of discipline ... but all he proved was that he knew there was more of the same coming if he had kept on fighting.

He had certainly lost interest by the time he fought Barrera but he never had a problem making weight,I cant buy into that.

He was on the slide but a lot of people expected him to starch Marco. Barrera was probably past his best as well so it was even really. The better man on the night won if he was not prepared properly then that is Naz`s own fault he had enough time.

I think he is talking **** the documentary on this fight doesn't show him struggling with weight ir killing himself to make the weight it shows him swanning around taking it easy and been worried about his enterance and ring attire. Plus I don't think either that yank or Brit commentary mention a weight issue (jim watt loves to talk about fighters been tight at the weight and I can't remember him saying anything). Also I have heard naz make excuse before usually his hand were hurt or he had lost the fighting spirit, this is the 1st time he has mentioned weight. I don't think he has ever fully given mab his due

Agreed.Won money on the fight and would have bet on the Mexican every time, and at any stage in their careers. He was Naz best opponent, though he beat some very good men,the best IMO was Kevin Kelly.Again only in my opinion,Kelly slightly past his best in that fight, though.I got the impression that Naz was happy to go the distance with Marco, and he hinted as much in the interview.Hed made plenty of money by that stage also,I think a lot more than his contemporaries across the Atlantic. As for the excuse business, its part of the game.As nice a man as Henry Cooper was,he was full of them. Its not a cardinal sin.

Proper class act, that's why when people say he was a bully and only cared about himself I have to disagree. He controlled his own destiny and didnt allow himself to be influenced too much by others,he did things his own way and that's why people dislike him.Its obvious hes a true family man and always seemed to have time for his fans. The guy on the tele was just a persona,as soon as the music hit he was the Prince, flashy, arrogant and loving every minute of it.

Nas was an incredible talent but ultimately by time he fought the great Barrera all the hunger had gone. Once he got smashed by Barrera he knew his time was up. Smart guy. Walked away with money in his pocket and brain intact. Only an idiot would carry on if they didn't have to.

This is about right, though I also agree with what Beeston Brawler said in the post above it too.

    nah,he wasn't,he was a half decent boxer with a massive,massive punch.
naz got out boxed plenty, but his punch was the ****ing equalizer, that punch got him a lot of his wins.
also,if he was not interested in the fight with MAB, he sure seemed to try hard to win :deal

He also admitted in the interview that he didn't train the hardest in general. I think a combination of 8 weeks, enjoying food, being lazy and facing Marco "I'll **** your world up" Antonio Barrera resulted in his loss.

Though sloppy as ****, that Naz still beats 98% of the division.

The greatest man to ever don a pair of gloves, but he's not being entirely truthful here. In fact, he's having to resort to the same silly excuses Duran has used to explain his losses/weak performances. And I've always mocked DOO-RAN for it, so I'm not about to start acting as an apologist for Ham the lad.

Barrera's fight with Jesus Salud was perceived by everybody at the time as being a tune-up for a fght with the Prince the following spring. The initial date that was being thrown about was March 3rd, though it got pushed back another month. Point is, teh Prince had plenty of time and opportunity to train for this fight - a fight that everybody knew was his greatest challenge - and if he wasn't adequately prepared, tough titties.

I remember watching Naz v Belcastro live on TV for the Euro belt. Naz was an absolute disgrace that night the way he mocked and jeered a far lesser opponent. Reg Gutteridge couldn't stomach it and was very critical of Hamed. I have disliked Naseem ever since.

Naz was favourite going into the Barrera fight after MAB lost twice to Junior Jones and to Morales. My view is Naz met his match and couldn't take it. MAB was just too good, too quick, too relentless.

The coup de grace of MAB bouncing Naz's head off the turnbuckle was the ultimate humiliation dished out to a bully.

The Gary Newbon interview was very poor. Newbon was afraid of Naz who put on his usual bullying act.
