People say he will beat inoue but I don’t see that in any way. He has a tremendous gas tank and relentless pressure but he’s not the best at cutting of the ring and he is kinda one dimensional in that he is pure offence, which can be a good thing but against inoue you will need to defend yourself. His performance against Vargas does not make me believe in him beating inoue and against ford he looked good but imo robbed ford(might have to rewatch fight). I give him credit for fighting all of the top guys but he has some flaws, that being his ring cutting ability, defence not super bad but needs improvement, easy to counter and sometimes he smoothers his own work
He is pretty exciting to watch, and is a unique fighter, he matches his nickname 'The Wrecking Ball' well - although being British does help his PR a bit too. He was unlucky not to get the nod against Vargas. I'm surprised they haven't rematched yet.
I love the way he has overcome his physical dimensions. I think he has a chance with anyone. At the risk of sounding a bit wet, I think he gets away with a lot of throws and wrestling moves and I am surprised he hasn't had points taken away, or in one case the opponent given time to recover after he basically threw the guy and then dropped him. I guess he's smart enough to align to the referee's sense of what is allowable.
Yeah he does a lot of throwing and dirty clinch work, against Vargas that was on full display and the ref thought he was a fan watching and couldn’t do anything about it.
Underrated. He believes. That’s his deal. Prior to his Isaac Lowe ko victory he was at a 50% ko ratio against peasants. He’s improved that ko ratio against world title level opponents. A classic example of getting the proper talent in the right hands and giving them world class training regimes. Throw Dubois in that mix too.
Too early to say.. some fighters can rise to the occasion as they step up levels.. he looks good so far but time will tell.
Saturday night, loads of beers, Nick Ball fight on TV. Perfect night for any boxing fan. The guy is pure entertainment.
