Dude, Not even a prime Shamrock had the skills Penn has. I don't want to downplay Shamrock, he was a great fighter, but Diaz got him late in his career, very late. To say he was a "part-time" fighter is generous, he was more of a novelty fighter at the point Diaz beat him.

Lawler and Karo? To claim those two are more dangerous than BJ is just plain stupid.

 

I think guys like Daley, Cyborg, Gomi, KJ, Lawler and even Scott Smith are almost if not as much or maybe even more dangerous then fighting BJ Penn in the standup.

I however dont believe Diaz has fought anyone as dangerous standing and on the ground. Cyborg was a great striker and a BJJ Blackbelt but we all know there are levels and Diaz was a clear level above securring that armbar in about 20 secounds, that doesnt happen vs BJ.

So I believe Diaz has fought strikers as dangerous or more dangerous then BJ but cleary he hasnt fought anyone as good in all areas. Of course there are very few guys in MMA with the boxing skills and BJJ skills of BJ Penn. Although Nick Diaz is pretty damn good in both himself his track record also speaks for itself.

 

I was referring to overall. I agree with you "as much and maybe more" though, of course in the stand up. Not really Gomi though. BJ's hands have become much quicker and more crisp than Gomi is.

I just have a problem saying Lawler is more dangerous than Penn, because Penn is literally lethal everywhere. See the sub he almost caught GSP in at the end of their first fight, how he took Hughes's back from his guard. Then his top position needs no explanation and neither do his hands standing.

Lawler is nowhere near as dangerous a fighter as BJ is. :deal And Karo, please!

And I agree that Diaz is very capable both standing and with his BJJ. He is behind Penn in TDs and TDD. Also I think Penn edges him in standing and BJJ as well.

 

if my boy nick punched gsp he would be like "i saw him in dabowl i culd not fight u knoww it like i fight two guy u knoww" dabowl diaz would be scary as sh*t and mayhem would be running for his life if he saw that.
