They've both made a huge impression this year. It's hard to say Condit is dangerous and poses a legitimate threat after what Nick just did to BJ. I genuinely dislike the Diaz brothers, I think they represent a lot of what's wrong with the sport, I can't ever see myself rooting for either of them, but they are also both tough and effective fighters, all the more so recently.
No. Atleast not like that. It's more likely that Nick catches him in a sub than him doing that to him standing. I see this as being a hell of a fight. I hope it's a 5 round war with a finish in the last minute.
They are both complete dicks. Whether it's for the camera or some kind of persona they want to project (and I'm fairly certain it's all an act), whatevs, but the whole thing with the Mayhem brawl, Nick not rocking up to a press conference before his fight with one of the biggest names in the sport, the general 209 homeboy ghetto bro attitude just gives me the shits. But, they obviously train like beasts, the are great fun to watch fight and I guess every sport needs its arseholes.
Working hard as hell on their conditioning and their skillsets, always coming to the Octagon in fantastic shape, always coming to fight, always fighting hard to the end, always putting on really entertaining fights for the fans, and yes, I do like a bit of antagonism surrounding fighters and their opponents, it gets boring if everyone behaves like GSP or Frankie Edgar. I'm not so bothered about the personalities of people I don't know, I love boxing and BJJ, so I love watching guys who practice these things in MMA and who always fight with great intensity. Great guys to have in the UFC.
As I said in my last post, I don't care much about the personalities of people I don't know. I don't watch MMA to like people or dislike them, I watch it to appreciate fighting, and the Diaz brothers are everything that's right about MMA.
In that case I agree. As far as their fighting personalities go, you summed it up perfectly in your previous post, but as a fan of the sport and not just the fights, I'm interested to watch weigh-ins, press conferences, countdown shows etc, and it's difficult to get away from the personalities the Diaz brothers choose to project. I'm kinda the opposite with guys like GSP and Fitch, they both seem like great guys, good personalities both inside and outside the ring, but it sucks to watch them fight.
****ing spot on. I can't believe anyone would think the Diaz brothers are bad for the sport. They represent everything that is right with it.
Personality doesn't mean **** though. I mean, they're hardly Tyson, out raping women. They're just a couple of guys from a bad background who act like dicks on occasion. I'd take that over someone like Mayhem who has a great personality but doesn't bother to get himself in a good enough condition to last 2 rounds.
To you maybe. Can you imagine if GSP had been the challenger to Nick Diaz's title when Diaz decided not to show up at the press conference? Can you imagine if that little run in with Mayhem had happened in the middle of a fox card? Personality might not mean **** to guys who genuinely enjoy watching technicians plying their trade and are fans of the fights, but to guys who are fans of the ins and outs of the sport and all that it entails then the Diaz brothers can get irritating.
