I think it was more of a knee with Benn, it’s been a while I can’t fully remember, but if his brain problems hadn’t of surfaced in this fight, Benn would’ve been destroyed
Nigel benn was fighting incredibly dirty, constantly landing haymakers on the back of geralds head. I can't rewatch that fight again because of how disgusted i was with the ref allowing benn to constantly do that.
The fight shouldn’t have happened. If they were calling off sparring because he wasn’t right, blinking and dizzy, then he shouldn’t of been cleared to fight
McClellan took a knee twice, obviously he stayed down the second time, stood up straight away when the count finished and walks back to his corner. What I will say is, Benn hit McClellan with shots in the fight that would have laid out a lot of fighters cold, McClellan has an excellent chin. Maybe his chin was so good it caused the problem.
They wouldn't do anything compared to the bombs he was landing on McClellan's jaw and frontal skull. Nothing at all.
No idea how McClellan took all those Benn bombs. That was the 87-89 Benn throwing everything into every punch, without being clinched constantly.
Both fighters were taking career shortening punishment in this fight and previous fights, particularly G-man vs Jackson. Benn was fortunate to make it out of the first round (no doubt it would have been stopped today) and was hurt multiple times through the fight but so was McClellan. Saying Benn would've been destroyed if it hadn't been for McClellan's issues is stupid. Both were warriors and were in a terrific fight (the kind many of us are baying for nowadays) that sadly ended with McClellan suffering long term health issues immediately after it ended. Many have said it is difficult to revisit the fight because of what transpired after, understandably so (even as spectators).
Serves the ****er right for torturing dogs and running over flamingos. Not only that GM was a massive weight bully POS fraud so **** him
G-Man took massive rabbit punches throughout a fight that should have ended in the 1rst round if it wasn't for that stupid referee getting in the way and not letting him finish Benn. As hard to watch as this one is, it's still one of the best fights from the '90s.
