Clearly, it isn't their home country, given what's happening, any more than the US is Fury's home country.

Germany was just the boxing hub of Europe in the early 2000s.

It's difficult to say however in the modern era for sure. What Usyk has done is pretty unique especially when home town robberies are more common.

No one will ever do what he's done. Winning everything, undefeated, becoming an ATG.. all on the road. Truly legendary career.

For me "on the road" generally translates to "in the A-side opponents backyward where the generally have the fans and possibly even referee and judging 'assistance'"

Whilst Germany was not the Klits home country, it was the base for most of their fights andanyone fighting them there was coming in to a hostile atmosphere with the deck stacked against them for sure.

IMO it's kind of similar to suggesting that Ward vs Froch was in neutral territory in Atlantic City when Ward didn't have to dig out his passport - same with Josh Taylor and Regis Prograis recently as well, even if not in their 'normal' venue, there is still usually an obvious "home" fighter and an obvious "away" fighter

He really could be. How many other fighters have went into the opponents backyards as much as Usyk has and came out with the victory? None really come to mind.

How many fighters have won, defended, and unified all their world titles in their opponent's backyards? With the exception of two of his world title fights - his first defence of his CW title against Mchunu and his first defence of his HW titles against AJ both of which were fought on neutral soil - all his other world title fights have been in his opponent's backyards.

He won his CW WBO title in Glowacki's backyard Poland

Made his first defence against Mchunu in the US (neutral soil)

Made his second against Hunter in the USA

Took his title to his opponent's backyard when he defended it against Huck in Germany

Fought a WBO & WBC unification match up with Briedis in Latvia

Then fought Gassiev in Russia for undisputed

Defended all four of his belts against Bellew in England

Annexed AJ's three belts off of him up at HW in England

And in between Bellew and AJ he fought Chisora in England and Witherspoon in the US

And he just made his first defence of his three belts at HW against AJ on the road in Saudi

Every single one of his fights since his moving up up to the world level in his 10th fight have been fought on the road and all but 2 of his last 11 in his opponent's backyards

It took him six fights to become undisputed at CW and he's attempting to become undisputed at HW in just his fifth at the weight and don't forget he agreed to face Fury next for all the marbles during the AJ rematch negotiations if AJ was willing to step aside which he was so it would've only been four had Fury agreed to it
