Or for what Wilder didn't do?

Ortiz was the same fighter who struggled to look good against Scott/Allen.

He was slow, flat footed, threw only single shots and faded badly fighting at a very slow tempo.

That’s what I’m wondering! Old timer was on nothing but Centrum Silver for this one and took Wilder to hell and back! Was out boxing Wilder then got caught. Put on a good show.

it was a good fight. We have to figure Ortiz fought better than he normally would since fighting for a title makes a man a better fighter. Wilder did well, although his chin did not hold up so well. he did not go down.. Joshua punches harder, although I remember the great Thomas Hearns being knocked down by Kinchen and hurt badly and people saying Ray Leonard would knock out Tommy faster, and Tommy should have won that fight and took all of Ray's punches and was not close to going down. So who knows. I hope this fight helps Wilder work on defense more and maybe his jab.. I think Wilders needs experience and so does Joshua. They both need a few more fights to really make a fight between them that much better. I still pick Joshua to win like I did before this fight.

If the bell had not sounded, Wilder would have been knocked out! Noticed Haymon's referee gave Wilder extra time to recover, the commentators mentioned it................Old Man Ortiz, a 50 year old man who is sick, almost knocked that fraud out! He won every round except two........................Wilder refused to fight Whyte for $4,000,000, Haymon could not control the judges, referee and boxing commission in the UK.................instead he fought an old man who is sick. Ortiz did quite well, but Joshua will knock Wilder out, no doubt about it..............

Why do you think he is taking blood pressure medicine? I think it was two different kinds of blood pressure medicines.....................he has high blood pressure for one thing, not counting his age................he will be 39, but those who have known him claim he is closer to 50..................I get tired of the announcers claiming that Ortiz was on steroids, when he was not......................

It was a one-sided beat down. The only thing incredible about it is how Wilder managed to survive.

All in all it was quite a standard Wilder fight. He gets his head boxed off for most of the rounds but then manages to whip up some of those sweet sweet windmills and get a stoppage.

Ortiz didn't show us anything new and all the flaws we saw vs Scott and Allen were reconfirmed. I expected him to give Wilder problems by taking away his jab by using his right hand to parry and block the orthodox jab, we've seen Ortiz do that against other fighters.

Ortiz is a natural counter puncher, he isn't comfortable leading. We saw that vs Scott and Wilder. Ortiz would land a good shot then not follow up, when other fighters would pour on the pressure Ortiz just sits back and keeps plodding forward fighting in short spurts unable to consistently apply pressure. Ortiz will always look better vs fighters that come to him, but ones that box him or stand off will make him look pedestrian at times.

But Ortiz did do better than I expected. But that was more due to Wilder being far more tentative than I expected. He was worried by Ortiz's counters, was feinted out of position and out boxed because of it. Fact is Wilder is far more effective when setting his feet and just letting his hands go.

Exactly we only learned one thing from this fight. Wilder has has certified elite level power- its now certified based on him bladdering Ortiz in the 10th (a top 6 HW)

Wilder was tentative for too long, because he respected Ortiz's power. When he finally stepped into it in the 10th the fight was over a minute later.

I picked an 8th round TKO for Wilder and it was done in the 10th.

Wilder is always going to be down on the cards and losing against any top 20 boxer. His boxing really sucks, but he has made up for it so far.

Tyson Fury 100 percent fit has Wilders number
