IMO, Floyd and Pac need each other to achieve ATG status. I don't believe they can both become ATGs, and I don't believe they can become ATGs any other way but through each other.

Whoever wins that fight, IMO, WILL become an ATG. But they're not right now. So yeah, I guess I do have high standards.

Sure he lost to Sturm, Hopkins, Mayweather and Pacquiao, all when he was past his prime. Who gives a ****...

But in his prime he accomplished more than most...No one today has his resume.

 

I think he's more along the lines of a hall of famer. Whenever he fought, the world paid attention.

On the flip side, he beat Chavez, Whitaker and Camacho when THEY were all past their prime. Who gives a ****?

Oscar has a fantastic resume. Lots of big names on there. He's definitely great. But being among the greatEST requires rising to the occasion in the biggest moments. Can you name a time he was able to do that?

The greatEST fighters are able to summon the ability to do great things when they're not in their prime (Foreman-Moorer), when they're not at their best weight (Leonard-Hagler), and when they're massive underdogs (Clay-Liston). They don't let sub-optimal conditions get in their way.

Extensive resume or not, I can honestly say I've never see De La Hoya do great things under any of those circumstances. That will always keep him from being an ATG in my book.
