I know theres quite a few people dont rate oscar del la hoya but you have to look what he has achieved and the way he conduct himself inside and out side the ring.

Won the Lightweight Gold Medal for the United States at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona

WBO Super Feather Weight in 1994

    WBO Lightweight champion in 1994-1996

Ring fighter of the year in 1995

    IBF lightweight champion in 1995

WBC Light welterweight champion in 1996-1997

    WBC Welterweight champion in 1997-1999

    WBC Welterweight champion in 2000

WBC Light Middleweight champion in 2001-2003

WBA Light Middleweight champion in in 2002-2003

    WBO Middleweight champion in 2004

WBO Light Middleweight champion in 2006-2007

    His record stands at 44 fights Won 39 (30 ko's) Lost 5

I know he has lost 5 fights but those fights were against world class fighters like Shane mosley Twice, Felix trinadad, Floyd Mayweather jr and Bernard hopkins. Most of them losses were by SD and he has only been KO once against hopkins.

I Like oscar, i like the way he fights and think hes all round good guy and his wife is well fit :)

so i would like to know if you think oscar is an ATG or a nearley man.

I like oscar i think hes a great fighter but when it comes to the big one against world class fighters he just cant quite seem to do it. which is a shame.

This is a really really difficult question IMO. Oscar's legacy, his accomplishments, what he did for the sport, the strength of his resume (I believe he won both the Trinidad fight and the second Mosley fight), all of this points to yes he is an ATG.

But there is a part of me that thinks deep down that Oscar never had ATG ability. It is undeniable that he lost more of his biggest fights than he won in reality.

If he is a top 10 all-time welterweight then he should be classed as an ATG, taking that into consideration along with his superb accomplishments. However, I'm really not sure if he is a top 10 all-time welterweight.

    Undecided.

Hall of Famer - Most Definitely
    GREAT resume
    ATG - Emphatic NO

I've watched ALL of his fights and have never thought he could beat the greats of the past and that's a big criteria for me..He's too indecisive and doesnt' have ANY killer instinct. And he's VERY manipulative

    1. Mosley - Lost twice to basically a "roided" lightweight
    2. Mayweather - Lost to a lightweight
    3. Tito - Ran for a 3 FREAKING rounds and didn't engage..Not how I like to see my $60 spent, ya dig
    4. BHOP - Not doubting the liver shot, but to "pounce:roll: " the canvas JUST after you lost and then your partners with the guy a WEEK later, WOW
    5. Vargas - Good win, but let's be real, Tito ruined that fool.
    6. Mayorga- Read Vargas
    7. Yori Boy Campus - Read Vargas (9 years after Tito literally took his head off, dude was washed up and he put that **** on PPV:patsch )

I give Oscar credit for his resume, but to me he didn't distinguish himself as an ATG imho.

P.S. - is beating a guy who once fought at 98lbs gonna get it done:lol:
He doesnt' care because you suckers will gobble it up and he'll make LOADS of dough.......I'll catch it on stream:yep

Sure, even when he lost there was real disputes out side of Mayweather and Hopkins.
He fought just about everyone, with no dodging I can recall.
There are dammed few ever that fought the calibre of men always, than he did.

Without a doubt! He is! He beat Tito and people are still on the last THREE rounds. If I beat a guy for 9 straight and FAR FROM CLOSE rounds, I would coast also just to guarantee my victory. How can he not be an All Time Great? Every fight he lost was close. Come on, take off the "I probably never boxed but my negative, biased opinion matters" cap and see the man for what he has accomplished.

Oscar lost 2 big fights to the judges but not to the people. That should be taken into consideration. Its not if you lose, its how you lose. Oscar is a definite ATG.

Everyone should just wait until he "really retires." All great fighters get more recognition once they're retired and some good time passes. He will get his credit then.

I think he is. Chavez x2 and Whitaker are really great wins for him.

Let's be fair. A past-prime Whitaker made him look like a fool, and if he bothered to mount any offence would of easily won that fight. A prime Whitaker schools him. A prime Chavez knocks him the **** out.

That's like ranking Brian Nielsen as an ATG because he beat Larry Holmes.
