I'd give Tito that accolade...though DLH is most certainly up there and I can't argue if you feel DLH's hook was superior...splitting hairs.
I thought about Tito, but when they fought each other, Oscar De La Hoya's was lefthook more effective. It was faster and more damaging than Tito's against each other's. So H2H Oscar had the better left hook. Despite Oscar being considered a one handed fighter (Lefthook) for most of his career, he was able to accomplish more than Trinidad including as I already mentioned, beating Tito's lefthook, and alll his other accolades because of his left.
To each his own, again I can't knock your opinion here. Not to get off topic but the DLH vs Tito fight was probably one of the most disappointing fights in the last 20 years....I thought DLH fought well and probably deserved the W though his lack of clousure caused him to receive an L instead. Tito for all his flaws was always ready for a battle and well DLH opted not to give him one....very wise of him.
I've met and shook hands with both guys....for some strange reason I'd rather taste DLH's left hook vs Tito.... Tito hand gorilla mitts vs DLH's average hands....shaking Tito's hands felt like grabbing a batch of bananas while shaking DLH's hand felt like shaking the hands of an average motal.
It definitely did not live up to the hype, but re-watching it now, you can't help but to appreciate the boxing lesson administered by Oscar De La Hoya, especially when you consider how much praise fighters like Lara, Rigandeaux, and Mayweather receive by some. Oscar was dispalying the sweet science throughout the entire fight. I think the myth of Oscar running the last 3 rounds comes from Oscar's drop in punch output and small increase in footwork. Oscar clearly won the 9th round, but it was closer. The 10th round was also a De La Hoya round imo, but it was very close and could go Trinidad's way if you make an argument for it. Oscar get's a lot of criticism for those last couple rounds, but truly it wasn't any different, or it wasn't as bad as what we saw Lara do against Canelo or other defensive Wizards. I never really saw Tito trying to win. Even if you're one of those who claims Oscar ran the last 3 rounds, Tito had 12 rounds to go all ball$ out and try to win the fight, but we all saw he did not.
