Beating Werdum-Fedor and Barnett would make him an ATG Heavyweight, without a doubt. They would be titanic struggles, and if he made mincemeat of them it would only further his credentials. People say 'who has he fought since he moved up to Heavy', well these three are about as great opponents you can find at any time (maybe not Werdum, but his BJJ skills are unparallelled at the present time in the division) and if Overeem steamrolls through them (or manages to lock in his feted guillotine) then it would say a massive amount for him.

This Grand Prix will prove who the no.1 Heavy is in the World, regardless of the winner of Cain-JDS. Cain would have a Nog without his chin, Brock and JDS. JDS would have a bit more, but the real substance would be Nelson and Cain.

Strikeforce is not great across the board, but their Heavyweight division pisses over UFC's.

If he wins the GP in impressive fashion I'd say he's be around the Crocop/Barnett level in terms of legacey, if he wins and then stays undefeated for another couple of years vs good opposition he'd be approaching Fedor/Nog level.

He will achieve it fella, think about it.....for him to win he has to beat Werdum, fedor/Silva and Barnett in final.

Thats a sick comp to face

Love it how everyone just decides to brush under the carpet the fact that he's a cheating ****. Ubereem is the product of chemical manipulation, the most blatant i've ever seen in MMA

If Overeem wins the Grand Prix and then the UFC heavyweight title - I would definitely agree with that assessment.

I honestly think Reem would batter Cain.

He doesn't need the UFC HW title for top 10.

The UFC HW title in addition to the SF HWGP would push him into the top 5.

He doesn't need the UFC heavy title whatsoever to be ranked in the top 10 greatest heavys of all time. The GP will prove who's the best heavy on the planet. Considering the quality of the GP that's a significant enough achievement if Overeem can win it.

Definitely not too late. Winning the Strikeforce tourny would set him well on his way. I don't think you necessarily need a long reign to be great. I think it's more about the competition. Beating Werdum, Fedor and Barnett (or anyone on the other side of the bracket except maybe Rogers) are superb wins and maybe a few more solid wins after that would solidify him as a great imo.

Of course if he did go to the UFC and beat Cain, JDS etc. that would always help.

If Reem beats Werdum, Fedor and then Serge, he would arguably be the best ever! He would have avenged a loss, beat the best ever and won a trilogy!!!

Legacies will be defined by this GP!
