Is Pac beating Martinez at 154+ more significant than him beating Mayweather?

I agree with Cintron but P-Will did beat Margo, Winky, and avenged Quintana with first round KO. Pavlik's loss to Hop shouldn't be dismissed as he has sent a few different boxers on a downward spiral after he dominates them.

no, people will still say serg is drained or manny's on roids....won't b nothin new if manny beats up another "drained guy"....floyd is the best, so a win over him would mean more

lets not kid ourselves here. the martinez win will be a bigger challenge for pac, especially if at MW.

but to be remembered alongside the greats, a victory over his greatest rival would mean more, namely floyd.

pac beating martinez is greater in reality but beating mayweather will be better in p4p atg decussions if that makes any sense at all

NOBODY within a reasonable weight would be more significant a win for Pacquiao than FMJ.

The general public would regard a win over Floyd as being more significant because Floyd has a much higher profile as an elite boxer, but Pac beating Martinez at 154, is more significant than beating Floyd at 147.

However I don't think Pac can beat Martinez at 154 right now(he might be able to in 3 years time if Martinez gets old), but beating Floyd at 147 is definitely on the cards.

I doubt that Floyd beats Martinez at 154 either.

Both Pac & Floyd would beat Martinez if Martinez had to boil down to 147.

    Come on...

Hopkins is a 175 lb fighter. Hopkins destroys every fighter on Mayweather's resume and Mayweather.

Pavlik kills Castillo, murders Hatton, and puts hernandez 6 feet under. He beats the same Mosley that lost to Mayweather by KO. It may not be pretty, but Pavlik is just too big.

The fact is, Pavlik, Williams, and Martinez are more challenging opponents for Floyd than anyone on his resume, and it the big reason is size.

Floyd is far more skilled than Pavlik and Williams, but their size makes them competitive.

If Pac goes from 106 and wins the middleweight title against a guy like Martinez who IS VERY skilled, that's a HUGE win.

Do you mean that Oscar was the number 1 154 pounder in 2007?

He got the title from Ricardo Mayorga who got the vacant title from michele Piccirillo, immediately after being KOed by Felix TrinidaD in a middleweight fight.

I never realized that the 154 division really sucked at that time.:lol::lol:

The best fight for Pac is against Floyd Mayweather Jr, IF Void has the "urge" again. And that would be the fight if the Decade!!!

But reality sets in, Voidweather is not fighting Pacquiao!!! So, Pacquiao needs not to prove anyone that he is the greatest fighters in this era.

Pacquiao, a natural LWW vs Martinez, natural MW: Catchweight fight! Maybe 152 max. If Martinez wants to fight at MW, then weigh-in must be on fight night so as to have fairness in Pacquiao, ala amateurs. Only problem is we are in the pros, and fans dont like amateur-style in pro-boxing. Am I right?

The underrating of fighters is so ridiculous on this forum. Apparently there are like 3 world class fighters and everyone else is a bum.

Margarito is considered completely unskilled now. This is a guy who was a beast at ww for a long time. Wins over Cotto, Clottey, Martinez, Cintron, etc.

Paul Williams, and Pavlik are not world class?

It doesn't make any sense at all unless you want to buy into the hype.

Fact is Sergio Martinez is a far tougher fight. He'll go in probably as a 2/1 underdog. Versus PBF he'll go in as even. This is a #3 P4P MW slickster, counterpuncher fighting a LWW who's had trouble with counterpunchers. It's crazy.

The tougher fight should obviously be better for his legacy?

A win over Floyd is more significant, no doubt about it.

Not only he be the first to hand Floyd his loss, he will also beat a very very slick black fighter - which wil erase any further doubts about him ducking their kinds.
