he has tendinitis in his knees (much like rafael nadal) I honestly think this fight and then the fight with mayweather will be his last fights.
If that was the case then they'll be accusing pac of being not human and shouldnt be allowed in boxing.. But anyways, seems thought he's taking a breather here and there
I think he dropped the pace near the end, not sure if he was tired/ran out of gas, etc. What I did notice in the bout in the second time of watching, I noticed he didn't quite look as quick as he had against De la Hoya or Hatton. His quickness still obviously troubled Cotto, and will trouble most Welters. But, he looked tremendously quick against De la Hoya (im not sure what Pacquiao's weight was on the night of the fight against De la Hoya), equally quick if not quicker against Hatton. But against Cotto, I don't know, I weren't blown away by his speed like I have been before, I was more impressed with his composure and the accuracy of his combinations. Just wondered if anyone else had noticed, maybe the extra pounds was the main factor in this??
As I've said before, I haven't noticed him slowing tremendously. For his sake he had better ot lose a step in hand-speed, foot-speed, or stamina, because those are his biggest advantages on march 13th, and he's gonna need them. But you never know how much a fight (even a win) takes out of a guy, especially when he fights just a few months later.
It wasn't that PAC didn't have the speed....Cotto just went into 5th gear after the 9th! Not in terms of fighting....but getting the **** out of dodge. He was pretty much running with some pivots which resembled a little boxing. Throwing the occassional jab to put something in Pacs face long enough to regain enough distance to survive.
Exactly. I'm not saying he was slow, far from it. I don't know what the right word would be to describe it, possibly lethargic, although thats a bit harsh. Like I said his combination punching was immense as usual, but the extra pounds I thought had a slight effect on his general speed, his jabs and straight lefts. Maybe that was the plan, work on different things other than speed whilst in the ring.
I think the injured eardrum had something to do with it. That plus Cotto was in survival mode and Pac knew he had the fight won going into the later rounds.
